✧ a/n : i hate them. very different content to what i usually post but i am so obsessed with their dynamic that i had 2 write this. i also rlly like this piece & i hope u do too <3

scaramouche is furious. he can feel it, the rage coursing through his veins of electricity and the way lightning crackles at his fingertips. this very realisation only serves to anger him further, forcing him to confront the knowledge he does his best to ignore; he is but a poor caricature of his creator at best.
scaramouche is scared. he can feel it, the fear quivering in his chest, and if he had a heart, he's certain it would be fluttering against his ribs like a bird in a cage. fear makes him weak. he spits the words out with hatred edging his tone and the phrase leaves a metallic taste in his mouth. he is terrified that he will become her and yet also that he will differ from her. he can admit that to no one because they will see it as a defect and he was created to be perfection itself, divinity distilled into a flawless marionette.
for a puppet, scaramouche feels way too fucking much.
and he hates it. he hates her. this is all her fault. it makes him feel even worse that he is resorting to pinning the blame on her like some foolish child. but it's true, isn't it? he wouldn't even be here, shaped from fragments of her grief and desire and the very thread which ties inazuma together, if it wasn't for her. he wouldn't have to suffer betrayal after betrayal if it wasn't for her.
and yet he loves it, oh, scaramouche loves her. how long can he keep lying to himself like this? how many times can he tell himself that he despises her, he loathes her, he abhors her for creating him and then tossing him aside like some child growing bored of a worthless plaything. some nights he wakes up from a memory, or perhaps a fantasy, of her combing through his long hair while humming a soft tune – there are always tears staining his cheeks and a dull ache in the left side of his chest on nights like those. because the truth is, he misses her so much it disgusts him.
scaramouche's deepest secret is that he just wants her to see him. he yearns for her to view him as more than what he was meant to be, as a fully fleshed person with his own agency even if said flesh was stolen from her to be cloaked with a new skin and gifted with a new name. he has tried so very hard to get her attention, he has tried taking over her own nation, for archon's sake, and yet she still would not spare him even a glance. he doesn't know what else he can do. but he also doesn't know what he would do if she ever did give him that which he clandestinely craves.
scaramouche convinces himself that he would yell, he would scream, that he would take all these ugly messy awful emotions swirling around in his hollow chest and just throw them at her. perhaps the sharpness of his words would cut through her cold exterior like a verbal imitation of musou no hitotachi. but he knows he might not be able to say anything. he knows he might just crumble under her indigo gaze, and he hates it. he hates the fact that his creator can still bring him to his knees like the puppet and puppeteer they should have been.
what scaramouche hates the most, though, is the fact that he cannot bring himself to say even one of her many names. raiden shogun, ei, baal. too many times he has had dreams, or perhaps nightmares, of him whispering her name and her coming to comfort him, to hold his hand and walk beside him like the mother and son they should have been. but he buries those ideals deep within him, locks them up in the darkest recesses of his heart and mind, refuses to acknowledge them, all because scaramouche is the sixth harbinger of the fatui and he fears nothing. he tells himself that so many times he thinks he almost starts to believe it.
but sometimes, on nights where storm clouds roll over the horizon and the echo of thunder booms in his ears, scaramouche can't lie to himself any longer. perhaps all him and his mother were ever destined to be were wretched mirrors of what they could've, would've, should've been to each other.
inazuma characters finding out you’ve passed away during battle
includes: kazuha, yoimiya, thoma, and raiden shogun
warnings: mentions of death / some 2.1 spoilers
kazuha
kazuha followed a routine whenever he ended up in inazuma. 1. try to hide from everyone 2. find gorou at the military base so he could lead him to you. that was it. and that’s exactly what he did, although this time, he could almost sense that something was wrong. everyone’s eyes landed on him as he walked past them. a heavy rain fell from the dark sky that was illuminated with strong lightning. he could practically see gorou’s heart fall as the samurai made his way closer to him.
prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
“i’m sorry, kazuha.” gorou begins.
kazuha accepts it. he doesn’t need gorou to elaborate, but he does anyways.
“i tried to save them… we all did, i promise… but their injuries were fatal.” gorou explains softly.
kazuha nods. “of course. thank you for trying to save them.”
gorou has another soldier lead kazuha to where you’d been laid to rest — a shabby headstone had been made out of wood that was already getting worn down from the storms of inazuma. it makes kazuha sick. you deserved so much better. he kneels by your grave with a sad smile, running his fingers across the headstone.
he curses at himself for not preparing for this. he knows that once it sinks in that you’re gone, it will leave him with a broken heart that would be nearly impossible to mend.
he sighs. “i’m sorry, my dear. in another life, perhaps.”
yoimiya
after receiving the news, yoimiya just couldn’t wrap her head around it. you were really gone? but you promised to come home as soon as you could. why had things turned out this way?
she spent most of her time trying to grieve as comfortably as possible, but she still had work to do. it made it so much harder to deal with.
after a day at work, she returned home and went to the supply room she had left an important firework in, one she made to set off in the sky upon your return. she wanted to throw it away, destroy it so she’d never had to look at it again and think of you and what had been taken away from you.
but she knew that wasn’t what you would want her to do. so she picked it up and took it out to the beach where she set it off, the sky illuminating in your favorite colors. she sits on the ground and finally cries. she cries as if you’ll be there to soothe her, and she yearned for the familiar feeling of your arms around her.
“i miss you so much already, (y/n)… i hope the fireworks look pretty where you are.”
thoma
thoma patiently waited for your letters from the military base every week. if he couldn’t hear your voice, seeing your familiar handwriting recounting the past week was the second best thing.
he never even considered the fact there could be a day that letter would never arrive. once handed the envelope, he tears into it to read it as soon as he can, so he can respond as soon as he can.
his smile begins to fade as he realizes the handwriting in the contents of the envelope was not yours. it was from sangonomiya kokomi herself, informing (and profusely apologizing to) thoma that you had been fatally wounded in battle.
“their death has been a huge hit to our army’s morale, and they will be missed. i simply cannot apologize enough for having to tell you this way, and i will keep you in my prayers.”
thoma simply folds the letter back up and sets it aside. taorumaru sniffs it and turns his head back to thoma before whimpering and laying down.
it’s as if he knows what’s happened, thoma thinks.
he can feel tears rushing to his eyes, and a sob escape his lips. “why them… why did it have to be them?”
ei
when they traveler suggested a walk around inazuma to inspire some change, ei knew exactly where she wanted to go. to visit you. it had been far too long since she last saw you before beginning her meditation in the plane of euthymia.
“who?” paimon questions. “i don’t think paimon’s met that person here, but there’s no harm in looking, right?”
ei wasn’t worried. “of course. although inazuma looks different, i know just where to find them.”
she walked alongside the traveler to grand narukami shrine, asking the shrine maidens where you were. one of them gave her an uneasy look before gently explaining that you had become a soldier and had unfortunately died in battle.
“oh… alright. thank you for informing me.” she nods before turning on her heels and immediately leaving.
paimon and the traveler leave the shrine with her — she had gone completely silent, deep in thought.
“um, ei? are you alright?” paimon asks.
“i’m fine.” ei says, stopping in her tracks. “i just can’t help but wonder… did they die… because of my actions?”

Oh Yae Miko, we brought a new friend for you~ Paimon chirped one day, floating ahead of Aether and Lumine. Aether and Paimon had met you in their travels after leaving Inazuma, and deemed you an angel. You were the only one, after fighting endless amounts of monsters and fighting gods, who led them straight to Lumine and successfully reunited them. They were forever in your debt. They didn't know whether you were immortal or not, a god or regular human, but you stuck by them the rest of the way, and your personality reminded them both of a certain kitsune. Paimon thought you two would be a perfect match. And, surely enough, you were. Present day, you had gone to visit Miko for the first time, but was welcomed with an unfamiliar sight.
Oh, and who is this? Raiden Ei asked, eyeing you. You stood proud and tall in your elegant clothes, smiling softly when the Guuji came to embrace you. Miko, I thought we had a day due together. The Guuji had her arms curled around your bicep and kissed your cheek before nuzzling into your shoulder. Relax Ei, we can all spend the day together. You held your hand out to shake the Electro Archon's hand, which she took hesitantly, and your outing began.
Ei quickly took a liking to you in a matter of minutes and was surprised to have never met you, only occasionally looking over Miko's shoulder whenever she received a letter from you. She didn't know that this was your first time meeting, and thus took the opportunity to try and impress you to make up for all the rumours you might had heard overseas. Alas, the kitsune had other ideas.
Come now, [name], let me take you to my publishing house. We can pick some light novels if you want. Yae effortlessly impressed you, as you did impress her. Call the travellers matchmakers, because you two had a spark. Oh how desperately Baal wished to have chemistry with you too, but her familiar only seemed to dismiss her. I can have a private tour of the Tenshukaku arranged for you, [name], if you don't mind. A glare was sent to her over Yae's shoulder. Now, now Ei. You and I both know that this outing was for me and our new guest alone. We'll see the Tenshukaku last. Does it not look good against the sunset? The Archon clapped her hands in delight. Pardon me, [name], best things shall be saved till last. You may see it later. Oh, how wrong she was.
The day went fast, and sweets were bought, pictures taken and fun was had... for only two people. The poor purple-haired woman was but a background figure during the entire day, trailing after you both in an attempt to be noticed. Being scolded was no fun.
Thank you for all the letters, [name], I've not had this much fun since a long time ago. She kissed you on the cheek once more and helped you upon the Crux fleet ship. Aether, Lumine and Paimon followed behind you. Bye Miko! See you soon! Paimon waved excitedly at the pink-haired maiden as she waved gracefully back. As the ship sailed away, the Tenshukaku shine majestically in front of the sunset - yet something else caught your eye.
Or rather, someone.
I- I thought you wanted to see the Tenshukaku...

self-aware genhin!au
Your Yae Miko was something to be proud of. You had her weapon at level 90, refinement rank 5 somehow, attack level 2500+, herself was level 90 and her constellation level 1. She was triple crowned - perfect. You'd been very lucky with her, pity at 10 and getting her twice in a ten pull, and never took her out of your party. You'd spent hundreds of thousands of mora on her and you could proudly say that she was perfect. You also had Raiden too, but she wasn't as amazing as her. You had gotten her after spending so much, attack level 1500+, her weapon level 90, refinement rank 1, her at level 90 and constellation level zero. Before, she used to be your main, your best character, but she was now second.
Second.
That word didn't sit too well with the Raiden Shogun.
You stroked the screen lovingly, admiring Yae's stats for the third time that day - she was the best thing that had ever happened to you. She was also the best character character to talk to, her becoming self-aware only proved your point. You had just finished fighting the Oceanid and good lord did she carry. Thank you for the compliments, [name], I do wish I could reach out to you too. She sighed blissfully and blew you a kiss slyly. Oi, you two! Get a grip, or better yet, a room! Beidou laughed heartily at your interactions from her place in the party as you laughed at her back from outside the screen, telling her that you loved her too. Raiden didn't say anything. She rarely did anymore. She had given you and your wallet such a hard time and was hard to farm for, but Miko was so easy to get, she was like a gift from her so-called developer: Hoyoverse.
She wished that she could be loved again.
She didn't want to make you lose the 50/50 to Jean.
She didn't want you to take it in good faith and build said Knight of Favonius.
She didn't want to be second.
She didn't want you to farm for Jean.
She didn't want to be replaced.
She didn't want Beidou there.
She didn't want to be there for the sake of it.
She didn't want to disappoint you.
All she wanted was to see you smile once more at her.
“the last she had saw him was when he left tenshukaku as she watched from the window, and during the irodori festival, a place where she would never expect to encounter him again.”
ei and scara — not a ship post, they have a familial bond, please scroll away if you dont want spoilers on scaras backstory!
a/n — been ranting about scara’s backstory for 2 hours straight and his recent voiceline leaks. got a short fic idea out of it roughly around 0.7k words
“You never loved me, did you?”
She dreads the day she would hear that from him, her own son, her creation.
Yet she wouldn't blame him for that.
She had made him look similar to her sister, as she was still grieving her death. Perhaps a little too similar.
She notices the way his eyes would stay fixated on the butterfly that landed on him, she regrets the way his innocence would soon one day be tainted with blood.
She regrets ever being the creator of such a thing. Something so sweet, something that she would one day be the reason of his hollowness.
Oh but she never knew, for now, all she thought of him was his own sister; A sister so gentle and kind, an archon and someone that Ei could never be.
He was made to rule, but seeing that all his qualities were complete parallels to her sister..
No, the same thing would happen again.
She needed someone that could hold the gnosis in her place, someone with no emotion, with no child-like innocence. Someone who doesn't care if they were being brutal, someone whos name would be mentioned and everyone would be afraid.
Ei needed someone who could control, not someone who can live to remind of her sister.
She began having second thoughts, despite him being a prototype for the shogun, she still somewhat held some care for him. She wants to make him leave, but she cant find a reason why
And so, during the night, when she needed reassurance that Kunikuzushi couldn’t rule—she went up to his room and placed the gnosis into his hands.
She noticed how such an innocent face could turn into one of pain, how words of curiosity would turn into begging for her to get rid of the gnosis from his hands. How tears would someday fall from his soft eyes.
Ei never wanted him to suffer, so she cast him out.
A puppet like him could never have a will, a heart, strong enough to endure what holding the gnosis could make him feel.
And the last she had saw him was when he left tenshukaku as she watched from the window, and during the irodori festival, a place where she would never expect to encounter him again.
She heard the creak of the door to the warehouse open, Ei was only there to check up on some old artifacts that she could take back to Miko and remind them of their good times.
She heard the jingle of a bell, by his veil. Footsteps that she knew who belonged to all too well.
And once he flicked the dim lights open, her eyes widened.
The silence was present as the two of them think about just what is going to happen.
Part of Ei felt relieved, that her son had returned after many years, and another part felt scared—fearful that hes here again.
“Kuni..”
All she heard was a tsk, she was surprised to see what he had become. A sick, empty, cold vessel—exactly what she needed for a puppet.
“Who caused this? What happened to you?”
She tried to get closer, she tried to earn his trust, oh trust me she tried. I guess its not enough for him anymore.
Scaramouche gripped the hand she put on his shoulder and harshly pushed it away.
“You don't remember a single thing do you? You dont know what you did to me?”
His voice was weakening, his eyes seem like they were glowing.
“Its all YOUR fault. I never knew why you cast me out of Inazuma, I never knew why you put that DAMN GNOSIS IN MY HANDS THAT NIGHT, and.. and how you-“
“Shh.. Its okay—Its okay so Kunikuzushi, please,” She put her arms around him, dragging him down to sit first and.. “Calm down.”
Though he was reluctant to, the action made him crack. The years of him suppressing his emotions, the glass he overflowed with broke. All he heard were Ei’s whispers of apologies and his soft crying.
Ah, it seems he still has that innocence with him.
I lowkey rushed this and also there might me typos
Angst and comfort <3
He falls to his knees in exhaustion, gasping for air as he reaches for his chestHe stares into the ground realizing that he has once again failed her, he tries to get up but he's far too weak to move. As he feels his eyes tearing up, a slow tapping of heels approaches him. He doesn't dare look up there is a brief moment of silence until his sobs fill the plane of euthymia. She kneels down to his level slowly reaching for his face. The sudden touch starles him but the warmth of hand was too much to ignore, Ei camly removes the hair from his face, looking into the empty violet eyes, memories rush into her
Ei:My dear Kunikuzushi... Kunikuzushi:Mother...
The sudden realization strikes her as her eyes start watering up too Ei: My dear son..my Kunikuzushi..I'm sorry she says with her shaky breath, she leans in to hug her dear son, of the sudden affection the puppet falls into her arms, his mother's arms once again
Feeling angsty. Is it possible to get headcannons for ningguang, ei, lisa, and yae for how they reject a gn! reader? Luv your work
Synopsis: rejection
Warnings: mm… just kinda angsty, and not proofread
Game/ fandom: genshin impact
Characters: Ei, Ningguang, Lisa, and yae
Pronouns for reader: gender neutral/ not mentioned
A/n: hello! These women all need to reject me so I can move on, omg they’re all so pretty <333333. Anyways, hope you enjoy, and take care of yourself!!! Remember to eat!
— Ei —
Ei is gentle, yet blunt on purpose. She wants to steer you away from her. She loves you, she really does, but she is a god. She won’t die easily, and outlive you by many many years. She couldn’t take the heartbreak of you leaving her… so she’ll watch, as you marry someone you don’t love, have children, and then die of old age. Her heart aches even more than it already did. But she’ll reject you. As swiftly as possible.
“I’m sorry. We’re not meant for each other. You are a mere human, whilst I am a god. It’s not meant to be… I’m sorry. I hope you find someone who is truly dear to you.”
— Ningguang —
Thinks your pitiful. You, her biggest business rival in all of liyue loves her? That’s… rather interesting, but it’s of no use to her. She may think you’re pitiful, but will in the long run shut you down as kindly as possible. Your business will fumble, due to your emotions, and many people theorize it was because of her. People will talk, and Ningguang will ignore it all. Though, you may make the decision to lie and use the rumors against her.
“Hm… no I’m sorry I don’t love you. I do however, wish you the best.”
— lisa —
Leaves. That’s her way of rejection. You’ve been going out with Lisa for a while now, you’ve been sorta dating, but haven’t been exclusive nor put a label on it yet. But, despite all of this you told her you love her. Looking back in this it was maybe a bit foolish, but to be fair you didn’t think she would break up with you right then and there. She was nice about it, though condescending, wearing a smile on her age the whole time.
“Mm… I’m sorry this isn’t going to work out. I don’t love you. I must be getting home now, it’s getting late.”
— yae miko —
Almost shoo’s you away in her demeanor. She’s a busy woman, she doesn’t have much time for love, plus it’s not the first thing on her mind right now. Lies and says she’s in love with another, which makes you heart break. Are you not good enough? We’re you too slow? How long ago did she fall in love with this person? The questions pelage your mind, and she ushers you to leave. All a part of her plan to you with you.
“No I do not love you. I in fact have already fallen in love with someone… now go on, you’ve done all you wanted correct?”

Being the partner of the almighty. Shogun meant a lot not only reputation wise but, also life wise. You were practically famous through the nation. Of course, there was bound to be rumors and gossip about the dynamic and love filled relationship you had with Ei.
Most were positive, the people admired you as a icon. Then there was those that were envious. Envious of your status, your happiness, your love. You tried to let no negative comments affect you as there will always be negativity In this world but sometimes negativity that is ignored can build your own up and hit you all at once.
You had been having the regular typical day you always had. Today you wanted to cook for your lover but your humble abode wasn’t completely stocked with the ingredients that you desired. Ei had insisted that she acquire someone to shop for you but you stood your ground and denied her request. You wanted this surprise meal to be special.
While Ei left to deal with her duties you journeyed out to the shops of Inazuma. You wondered around searching for quality ingredients until you overheard the mutters of a group of citizens. “Yes… what does she see in them? They’re are so many fair maidens that fill this land yet she chose… someone so below average?” Your heart stopped at the words that were whispered between the huddle. It was then you notice all of the eyes burning holes into your skin.
You tried to continue walking but the shiver that chilled you body due to the stares of all the shoppers and vendors made your chest tighten. Your breath seemed to catch in your throat as your pace hastened. If you finished the shopping you could just go home and begin cooking. You eyes began to water as you quickly observed all of the ingredients you were buying. You rushed to buy them and exit the market. Your chest seemed to squeeze with every glance to the side as you noticed more and more stares on you.
You reached the entrance of your home. The Gaurds stationed outside noticed how distressed you were and let you pass quickly not wanting to make matters worse with questions. As soon as you entered the safety of your home tears began to spill down your cheeks. You rubbed your cheeks raw.
With your cheeks still damp and eyes still watery you made your way to the kitchen to place the purchased items down. You left to go get a cloth to wipe your swollen eyes. You reached a mirror and once you looked at your reflection your confidence spiraled. They were right. There were so many charming people that filled this nation so… why me?
You jumped when you heard a door slide open. You quickly removed yourself from the bathroom. You found Ei standing by the entrance to your living space blankly staring at you. You attached her to welcome her but, she cupped your red, still mildly damp cheeks in her hand as she gave you a stoic expression.
Her eyes traced along your features and she brushed her thumbs on your cheeks. “Why me? Why do you love me Ei?” The corners of her lips tilted down and her eyebrows furrowed. “Because you are adorable. Your flaws and your strengths are adorable.” That was all you needed you pulled her in for a sudden hug. She tensed at first but began to hug back. “I love you Ei.” You mumbled but Ei heard you loud and clear “I… I love you as well.”

:: death but its not well written cuz its one of my old works from my carrd lol
the electro archon stared in horror as you took a fatal blow to the stomach. rushing over, she caught you in her arms and panicked, desperately attempting to think of a way to heal you.
you turned to look into her violet, eyes. once full of color, now lifeless as she watched you slowly die. you managed to speak a few last words before your soon-coming demise.
"ei... aheh... it's nice that you're the last thing i'll see..." you cough. "i don't... have much time left. hey... you kept the candy i gave you this morning, right..?" you cough, again, this time blood coming out as well, dripping down your chin and staining your lover's clothed lap. "i'm glad." you gave a weak smile. you felt a drop of liquid fall on your cheek.
"are... are you... crying..?" another violent cough. "to think that the first time i saw you cry...your tears would be for me. it's sad yet, i'm happy for it." you tried your hardest to smile, despite seeing your beloved ei cry over your gradually dying form.
"really, thank you... i'll love you always and forever, e—" she flinched as you stopped speaking abruptly and fell limp in her arms.
but no matter how hard she screamed...
no matter how much she begged...
and no matter how long she cried...
you weren't ever going to come back.
---
ei kneeled at a stone under the tree she loved dearly.
"rest in peace."
she felt a tear drip down her face, wiping it with her sleeve.
wistfully holding a wrapped piece of candy, most likely not edible anymore, she whispered, "i love you..."
and stood up, to hide in the plane of euthymia where she sits alone forever.
