No one will be surprised if I say that Book IV of the Odyssey is one of my favourites because it talks about Menelaus, and within the story that Menelaus tells there is another story (which no one cares about, not even Telemachus, who is hearing the story LOL) that tells of Eidothea, the daughter of Proteus, who takes pity on Menelaus when she sees him looking haggard and lost as he wanders alone on the beach. She tells him she can help him talk to Proteus so that he can tell him how to get out of Pharos.

Extremely interesting because they were everywhere (the dark blue rim means historical distribution and the red one current colonies. the question marks represent areas that do not have official register in this day and age but may exist.

The healthiest are is the Aegean coast, Madeira and Cabo Blanco.

EIDOTHEA

Eidothea was a prophetic sea-nymph daughter of the shape-shifting marine god Proteus. When Menelaus was returning home from Troy, his fleet was becalmed on the island of Pharos near Egypt. Eidothea took pity on the hero and told him how he might capture her father and force him to reveal prophecies which would enable his escape from the island.
