"Tumblr is dead. eLBikada is dead."
On June 9, 2010, on a rainy evening at the UPLB Carabao Park, a group of Tumblr-dependent young people decided to meet and become friends in the real world. They became a family, got drunk, and had a hell lot of fun. They called themselves "eLBikada".
Much has changed. Tumblr, if you would ask those who were there during its Tumblarity era, is dead. Or different and no longer the "safe and free place" that we used to know. Most of the members of eLBikada have already left Los Banos to become an adult (two of them even got married to form a happy family of their own) and those who remained (actually, just the two of us) are too busy to even grab a bottle of beer or two.
We have outgrown the platform. We are no longer those happy-go-lucky young individuals who drink almost every night and laugh our asses out over David Karp's Empire's "issues". We have decided to live a new, and hopefully matured life. Hell, I don't even remember your usernames/URLs.
The Tumblr that we know is dead. The collective eLBikada that we used to associate with is long dead (Some would say that it died last 2013 after the last UPLB Tumblr meet-up).
The collective term is dead, but not the memories. The blogging platform has changed but not our relationship. We may not see each other often just like before but if I stumble upon on one of you, I would proudly say that you are my brother/sister, a long, lost sibling.
I miss you, my friends. Or rather, I miss you, my brothers and sisters. I miss the old days. But I guess, part of growing into maturity and adulthood is outgrowing your former self and facing life's challenges - with your "old self" as your guide and inspiration. Ah, it sucks to be an adult.
6 years. 6 na taon. Base sa bagong order ng DepEd, dapat may grade one na tayo ngayong June. Shet. Happy anniversary mga Tito at Tita!
