One of the coolest and vintage-est #electricguitars I have run into in my recent travels: a circa 1938 #Rickenbacker (spelled "#Rickenbacher" before WWII) #ElectroString #ModelB Spanish spotted at @thetwelfthfret #Toronto. . But don't be fooled - this is not a #lapsteel #guitar. It's an "electric spanish" guitar and intended to be played just like any #Telecaster or #LesPaul. In fact this model is widely considered to be the first ever solid body #electricspanish guitar, even though it it is chambered (the chambering was solely for weight relief of the heavy bakelite body and not for adding acoustic resonance). This makes it the grandaddy (or at least older brother of...) the #Tele and the Les Paul and every other solid body #electricguitar we know and love today. The Model B Spanish first appeared in 1935, although Internets tell me that the second knob, a tone control, was added in 1938, so that's why I'm saying this one is circa 1938. I probably should have just read the tag to be sure. I'm not great with things like that. In fact, I promise to take the phrase "detail oriented" off my resumé immediately. 😄 . . #guitars #guitarra #chitarra #guitarre #vintageguitars #vintagerickenbacker #rickenbackerguitars #tone #guitargear #guitarsdaily #guitarsofinstagram #geartalk #vintagegear #guitarphotography (at The Twelfth Fret Guitarists' Pro Shop) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6QbkWFhwho/?igshid=176n7x7tn666f
