Personal headcanon - elf spirit bonds & their children

Just for funsies here's a creative headcanon I built out in my AU works.

So we know about the 'soul' bonds between married elves according to LaCE etc. But there's also this section that says that elves don't have children during times of war and conflict because separation between parents and children during pregnancy and youth would be 'too grievous' for both the children and parents.

In my AU elves have soul bonds with their children as well as their spouses. Unlike spousal bonds, which include some mutual empathic abilities between spouses, the bonds with children are 'one way.' So parents can tell where their kids are and how they're feeling - but kids just have a general sense of presence, love, and support from their parents.

These bonds are released at a time of the child's choice, generally around the time they canonically reach physical maturity, around 50 years old.

Elf headcaons #3

Elves mature a lot faster then humans. That, doubled with the fact that there are few elf children, means that very few outsiders have actually seen an elven child.
