She hadn’t seen her. She had not talked to her either. Kinzie had had no contact with her captain for what felt like ages, but she knew that it was days. Even that small length of time, however, seemed like a lot. Emerson was one of, if not, Kinzie’s closest friends; she talked to her almost regularly. Daily. Hourly. She hated the silence.
It wasn’t hard to find Emerson’s villa; it wasn’t like there were a lot of captains to speak of. When she came up to the door, she sidestepped knocking and simply opened up, stalking inside and closing the door loudly behind her. “I know what you’re doing,” she announced, placing her hands on her hips, waiting her out. “I know what you’re doing and it’s not going to fly.”
