Back in the kitchen was something Ember never really thought she'd be, and it made her miss her family, those good old days (the good old days that often ended in arguments and annoyance between the family, but one easily forgets about those incidents after everything that happened). She felt rusty, but it still just felt like riding a bike - easy to fall right back into.
It was her first day so she was still getting the lay of the land when a little kid ran in and then came to a screeching halt, looking up at Ember with huge, round, brown, surprised eyes. "Heeeey--?" she greeted, looking around. "I know I am probably a new face, sorry about that. Do you come here often?" Did anyone mention kids dropping by the kitchen to her specifically, was it something she was supposed to pay attention to? More importantly, as she looked around, she asked, "Are you all alone or are your parents anywhere near?"
