@endetriment is an old fart pass it on.
he’s sad it seems, and she can’t tell if it’s a mission gone wrong or a nightmare that still haunts him. the tired smile he offers her can no longer fool her; she’d seen it for years and learned the truth, prying would help neither one of them. he’d give her another speech on how his well being was not her responsibility, how it should be the other way around and she shouldn’t worry herself over him. ellie would get frustrated and it would prompt an argument neither one of them wanted. but she was older now, more mature, not by much, but enough to know when to keep her mouth shut.
there’s a smile on her lips as she sits next to him, ruffling his way the way he used to ruffle hers. a distraction seemed like the best option now. she couldn’t fix his problem and take his pain away, but she could distract him from whatever was haunting his mind. “ you know i can see a grey hair right .... ” eyes squint at the ruffled hair as she pokes her finger against the hair resting on his temple. “ ah ! found it. right there ! ”
