@enduringfaith said: “Hey Riku- get this! Someone came by sayin’ I was like your dad!” [Laughs]
The announcement was... UNEXPECTED, to say the least, the silveret eying his friend with brows raised in surprise.
“My... Dad?” The word felt FOREIGN on his tongue, though he knew all about the waxed poetics on Father-son bonds. It was like a traditional rite, after all, for sons to bond with their fathers in many ways that bestowed the child newly learned skills, acquired knowledge and behaviors, among other FAMILIAL experiences that only Father-son activities would bring-- just as it were for Mother-daughter ones.
But Riku didn’t have a father; Riku’s mother had raised her all on her own, though one would argue at times on who raised who. He would spend more times at Sora’s house during their childhood, or be left to his own devices in the SILENCE of his home.
Riku never knew his father... And as such, he could hardly find any personal experience to relate Mickey of all people, as such. Instead, he thought back to Sam and his relationship with his father, Kevin Flynn. The two hadn’t seemed to be quite as open and gentle with one another, but there was an undeniable SUPPORT there. Riku couldn’t say that he and Mickey shared that type of bond, theirs being that much more in terms of honesty, openness, and communication.
Funny enough, it reminded him slightly more of his childhood memories with his own mother, instead, before she had grown busier with work. The two of them had been practically INSEPARABLE.
... was that how a FATHER was supposed to be, too?
“I guess I’ll have to take their word for it.” He replied with laughter in kind, hand finding purchase upon his hip whilst he shifted his weight to one side, HUMOR seeping into every inch of the expression on his face. For a moment, he could only shake his head, a hand rising to rub at his cheek as though it would erase the growing grin there-- he was smiling far too widely for something so SILLY, though truth be told, it felt like an honor to have the comparison. Gradually, the expression softened, though his eyes remained squinting with open joy and FONDNESS.
“For what it’s worth, I think you’d make a great father, Mickey.”
