I'm so torn because while Changyu not liking killing people and not wanting to continue in the army is so in-character for drama!Changyu but I'm a little disappointed because novel!Changyu almost immediately opted to join another army under another commander and establish herself in order to eventually "stand on her own" next to Xie Zheng and it kind of showed how absolutely mutual their love was and how willing they were to do crazy things for each other

I appreciate that the sentiment of her not wanting to lean on him for everything was brought up later, but I still wanted her military arc :(
