Reverse sexism does not exist. I can go into more detail about it later but your defense that men can be raped, though true, does not mean that we are in a world plagued by misandry. Sexism is so much deeper than that.
See, this is the close mindedness that will be so much of a problem in the possible future. What I was not saying was that sexism against males is an equally common aspect of our society today, and I’m not saying it isn’t either. I wasn’t talking about specific society in this day, this place, this culture, this media, this gender, this social class, this household, this preference…I wasn’t. That was not it at all.
I was, in fact, talking about the theoretical setting. A completely different society. A parallel universe, a remote island with a different gender ratio, a factory-town with no outside interference in a developing country with different peoples in power. Equilism is just as important as Feminism because it talks about the philosophical meaning of Feminism. A group of people being mistreated based on gender. Feminism is important because of the inequality that exists. And NOTHING I say should detract from that! Equilism is what I fight for as well though, because it counts for anyone in unequal social constraints. It also is more universal than feminism. With feminism, many people argue of the debate over transgender, genderfluid, and other genderqueer identities. Feminism, as I have inferred, does not apply to certain people in these categories because Feminism is commonly thought to be based on the social negative connotations of the biological features of a woman. The debate is, that if you do not look like a woman, act like a woman, and other things (which are slightly ironic in consideration of the fact that many of these aspects are caused by the social injustices) you do not receive the same mistreatments that feminism fights for solutions too. These arguments have validity, it makes sense when you consider feminism as a response to a social attitude on what the oppressors view as the women. The ones they actively and passively oppress. My issue is when Feminism is the only thing preached, and preached in a light unlike any other. Gender preferences and identities have Allies, but Females have Feminists. Sometimes it seems like one or the other is treated with more or less respect. And, of course, the respect that Allies deserve is in extreme question as well, for plenty of reasons. However, I like to be universal. It’s not like I want to erase feminism, or detract from it. I simply want to tell a story that will never run out. And many feminists suggest that Female inequality will always be an issue- in one of two sides of a spectrum of meanings.1: Always an issue due tot he fact that even if there was global equal treatment of genders positively and negatively, there will be mistreated women out there somewhere who need help…And 2: That women will always be oppressed and never be equal enough for feminism to not be needed.Well that’s pretty damn pessimistic of person two! I understand opinion one but opinion two sounds oddly self-serving! Honestly, it sounds like something that could easily be twisted into an oppressing agenda, in a madly different totalitarian world. However I love Equilism because even if worlds like that are crazy they are not impossible. We are tumblr, are we not supposed to be progressive? Do we not all tell ourselves and others to love eachother and love ourselves? Yes for feminism, and I will not say “yes, but”. Yay feminism period. People need it now.AND people also need representation without labelling. Equilism for all who are unequally treated.
A system that is adaptable for any era, for any group beneath oppression, for any group under the effects of even minor cultural ignorance. In the future, some day, people may not need feminism as much as they do today. It is plain ignorant to think that it is impossible for the very ideals you are fighting for can never happen. It is also ignorant to think that feminism isn’t needed today, or wont be needed tomorrow. It will take time, and complete balance may never occur, there may always be a wobble to the graph, a household somewhere where substance may be abused. A political figure whose personal problems are converted into a hate program. A religion trying to gain strength by shunning others. I am not a pessimist, and I will not say there -will- be these things forever. But I will say they -may- happen forever. However, there may also be a day where the gender in power may completely reverse. I know, this is practically unheard of in history, as it seems that such a day has never existed in a large state for a larger period of time, however I am sure it has happened somewhere. And maybe it happened peacefully, many say there is evidence for a peaceful matriarchy in ancient Egypt. I am sure that there was at least one hosuehold with an abusive mother separate from social oppression of her gender, somewhere, somewhen. This, again, is not to take away from feminism. It is to show that some day, in some place, a more diverse and universal concept would help prevent it.Do I REALLY need to say more?-Patt
