Cissy Houston RIP. En 1963 creó el grupo vocal de R&B, soul, gospel The Sweet Inspirations, que cantó durante unos seis años en docenas de discos clásicos. Su formación original incluía a Dionne Warwick, Dee Dee Warwick, Doris Troy y Houston, es decir, era un auténtico “supergrupo” de chicas, pero duró poco. En seguida Dionne y Doris iniciaron carreras en solitario.
Más tarde las Sweet Inspirations trabajaron como coristas en canciones de Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Solomon Burke, Esther Phillips, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, The Drifters, Van Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Dusty Springfield y la propia Dionne.
Absolutamente fantástico fue el trabajo de Cissy en "Ain´t No Way" en 1968, en un coro con las hermanas de Aretha, Erma y Carolyn Franklin. De ese mismo año es “Sweet Inspiration”, que fue Top 5 US R&B y Top 20 Pop. The Ikettes la versionaron en 1971.
