Happy Pride month! Victor Frankenstein himself possessed me to draw these. He told me
the real importance of being ernest is that you get to survive the events of frankenstein (1818)
Bruh Ernest Frankenstein’s life SUCKED his mother dies when he’s young, his little brother was brutally murdered (after he got lost playing with Ernest so he definitely got survivor’s guilt from that), the maid that was like family was executed for the death of his brother, his sister/cousin gets murdered on her wedding night, his father dies of a broken heart and to top it all off his older brother, the only family he has left, leaves without explanation.
AND HE WAS JUST A TEENAGER THROUGH ALL OF THIS!
Not to mention that Victor was so suspicious and clearly knew more than he let on that I wouldn’t blame Ernest for thinking he’s mad and might have killed William and Elizabeth.
fun fact about me is I had a class last year in university where for entire semester we literally just discussed Frankenstein through different lens of literary theory. and this meant for like 13 weeks I was just thinking A LOT about Frankenstein & reading these articles & during one of them I realised the author had incorrectly stated the entire Frankenstein family had died by the end of the novel. and this led me to become quite obsessed with ERNEST FRANKENSTEIN of all characters because the fact he's forgotten both within the text itself and in the conversations surrounding it were (& still are) extremely fascinating to me. its also really crazy to me that if you look him up here or elsewhere you'll likely find dozens of posts that state some sentiment of "wow it's so crazy Mary Shelley just forgot Ernest so much even the Monster forgot to kill him 🤪" yes he has a total 16 mentions in the entire novel but he is important!! incredibly so!! he survives and therefore cannot exist within the tragedy of his own life, as it is Victor's story. he betrays Victor's narration and exposes that it is not the whole truth; that Victor is also guilty of the manipulations he accuses the Monster of to gain sympathy and friendship. Ernest lives and Victor abandons him, ultimately denying him the truth of his own life and a place within it!!
In response to your request for Frankenstien doodle ideas: Please literally anything with Ernest 🙏 Hope you have some rest!
(thank you <3)
it's that time of year again where i lock in briefly and make a lineup . this time it's franken time
yay
I'm not very good at organizing my art... anyway, here's some Frankensteins (NB Ernest is very serious to me thank you very much)
