See the Pitt is inaccurate because why did it not have any of these patients as someone who’s worked in an ER I can promise I have unfortunately had every single one
ER Nursing
I’m writing this because recently I’m starting to think “Why am I doing this?” And I’m not questioning why I’m a nurse. I’m not questioning why I’m an emergency nurse. More or less I’m questioning why am I doing THIS - dealing with more complaints, more irate family members and visitors, and more drug seekers? I’m sorry but regardless of the nature in which these things arise they are DISTRACTING. Sometimes I’m finding that I can’t focus on what needs to be done for the ones who need my help due to the harassment by the ones who don’t. If I hear “how much longer?” one more time I’m going to snap. There are times that I have to tell family members that there is “no much longer” - that we did all we could to save their loved ones life but couldn’t. How can other people be so greedy? How can you come to an EMERGENCY room with a time restraint? If it was bad enough to come to the EMERGENCY room, then why are we all in so much of a rush to get out? Isn’t this worth waiting for? I can’t always tell you “how much longer”. Maybe I did say 10 minutes until you can go for your CT Scan, but guess what - a lot can happen in 10 minutes. So be grateful that you’re even able to ask “how much longer” because the person that we are rushing to CT Scan before you - can’t.
I did CPR for the first time today!!!
The extent to which you care for yourself necessarily affects anything you do. #nursing #ERnursing #healthyliving #motivation
A patient asked for 1/3 water and 2/3 juice and then asked if it was measured.... This is not a hotel
