Alcyoneus, Eurybarus, Menestratus, and Cleostratus' erasure will not stand.

EURYBARUS & ALCYONEUS

In Greek mythology, Eurybarus was a brave young man who encountered the young and handsome Alcyoneus as he was being led from Krisa to the cave of a dragon on Mount Cirphis to be sacrificed to deliver the Delphians from the dragon's menace. Falling in love at first sight with him, Eurybarus realized that he could neither defend him nor let him die. He tore the wreath from Alcyoneus's head, placed it on his own, and gave orders that he himself should be led forward instead. As soon as he entered the cavern, Eurybarus dragged the dragon from her den and threw her off the crags. From the rock where she fell sprang a fountain. X

Stricken by love for him, and asking why they were so proceeding, he thought it dreadful not to defend him to the utmost and just allow the youth to perish wretchedly. Tearing off the chaplets from Alcyoneus, he placed them on his own head and gave orders that he himself should be led forward instead of the youth. As soon as the priests had led him up to the cavern, he ran in and hauled out Sybaris from her lair, carrying her into the open and hurling her from the crags. Tumbling down, she struck her head against the footings of Crisa. Because of this wound she faded from sight. From that rock sprang a fountain and the locals call it Sybaris.
