We’ve got a canon Animal Self for Carrot, courtesy Angua- a lion, to go with all his other Royalty Symbolism. 

Prouvaire--cliche it may be, but I have to go with Nightingale. It’s a wanderer, famous for its song, easy to overlook otherwise, and intensely Symbolic to poets and musicians and to Romantics in particular.

The spawn is learning to identify bird calls from other animals. But she also called an ant a bird today and called a cat a bird yesterday (but later did call it a cat once corrected)

Duck pond + Bahorel.

Bahorel's from the country side, isn't he? So it makes a lot of sense that there'd be a duck pound not far from his house. In my headcanon he has two sisters; he'd often accompany them on hot summers day to throw pieces of bread at the ducks and watch them flop around.

at one point kid Bahorel threw himself in the pond with the birds and ended up with a nasty bite on his hand, which he laughed off, of course. He didn't do it again, though.
