The Last Dragonlord pledging allegiance to the Once and Future King

(Watercolour and gold ink illustration in the style of a medieval illuminated manuscript)

Merlin fanart inspired by the 15th century devotional prayer book Les Très Riches Heures du duc de Berry with references to some of my favourite episodes in Season 1

Aside from the mortaeus flower and the intertwined red and blue leaves the background also features four symbolic floral illustrations:

Oak leaves for Arthur ~ symbolising royalty, strength, longevity, and stability

Forget-me-nots for Merlin ~ symbolising enduring love, loyalty, and remembrance

Rowan leaves for Morgana ~ symbolising magic, protection, and warding off evil

Violets for Guinevere ~ symbolising modesty, humility, and devotion
