Glaucoma – A Dreaded Disease

Glaucoma is a disease which normally affects people of old age and especially above the age of 60. A person suffering from Glaucoma experiences unusual increase in the eye pressure to the extent that it causes the optic nerve to malfunction causing partial or total blindness.

For the eye to function normally it has to be well lubricated and that is done by the fluid in the eye. The clear fluid generated by the body flows out back and forth from the anterior chamber thus keeping the eye clean and the adjacent tissues healthy. When this flow of fluid gets hampered it increases the pressure in the eye this obstructing its natural functioning.

Types of Glaucoma

There are 2 types of Glaucoma namely Primary and Secondary. The former has not yet been totally identified and understood by the medical fraternity. This is the most dreaded form of Glaucoma as it may takes years to get detected and may take an even longer time to get cured. There is also possibility that the loss of vision in this type of Glaucoma may go unnoticed and uncured for years at a stretch. In short, the symptoms are mostly hidden and that is what makes it most dangerous.

The latter is caused due to Diabetes, tumour, old age and a host of other factors. A cataract or myopia surgery gone astray could also be a reason for this type of Glaucoma. It has also been observed that Type 2 is more common in Ethnic Asians and African Americans primarily due to their dietary habits which include copious amounts of red meat and other meat items. As the saying goes, excess of anything is bad and in this case, it causes Glaucoma, as is scientifically proven.

Symptoms of Glaucoma

Some of the common symptoms associated with Glaucoma are redness of the eye, blurred vision, watery eyes, severe head ache, and migraine accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Also, it is such a dreaded disease that it psychologically breaks the patient and the individual’s health deteriorates further in the knowledge of an atrophying vision.

Treatment of Glaucoma by Latanoprost Eye Drops

Though in most cases Glaucoma is a very difficult disease to treat but if it is detected at an early stage, the growth of the same can be arrested. Doctors world over have started to prescribe Online Latanoprost eye drops as potent medicine against this disease.

The eye drops are a .005% by Vol. Solution available in small opaque bottles of 30 ML with a dropper tip and can be used to drop the fluid directly in the eye. Once the use is over, it needs to be recapped and stored in a cool dry place for further use. Latanoprost eye drops are very similar to the natural fluid secreted by the called Prostaglandin and eye drops work by regulating the flow of fluid within the eye thus easing the pressure on the optic nerves and the eye in general.

Though Latanoprost does not seemingly have too many side-effects but it has been observed that the regular use of these eye drops cause the colour of the cornea to change from black to brown. It may also cause an increased sensitivity to light which may be irreversible.

Natural Treatment of Glaucoma

For patients who do not wish to take these eye drops can always opt for natural therapy which includes yoga, exercise, and balanced diet to treat this disorder. Though it may take time and the results may not be as desired, but most patients continue this therapy as it does not have any side effects.

On the Pharmaceutical Technology we made eye drops in this small bottles (in Poland we called it “minimsy”). It’s better option than eye drops in one bottle, because here we don’t have to use preservatives which can irritate eyes.
