Blaine had spent some time with Rachel, dancing with her as he said he would, but it was exceedingly difficult to keep up appearances in the moment. He was still reeling with what Rachel had said. Blaine couldn’t believe that he didn’t recognize it sooner. She must have thought they were dating ever since the kiss. Which meant the term “date” he had been casually throwing around carried much more weight than he ever intended. After a few dances Blaine excused himself to go and “say hi” to others he knew at the party. In reality, he just needed to step away and try to process or deal with the lie he just committed to.
He had promised himself he wouldn’t drink much, but Blaine was about one drink and three shots in and starting to feel pretty good and little loose now. Blaine found himself nodding his head and the rest of his body to the music as he made his way to the kitchen in search of another drink. He saw a small group of students setting up another round of shots and at this point Blaine was friendly enough to slide in and participate. One shot. Two. He laughed and cheered as the others did picking up a drink that was part cola and mostly vodka. Or was it rum? He didn’t care.
If he could just be honest with people, this wouldn’t be a problem. Maybe he should have talked more about that stupid kiss with Rachel and clarified that it was a mistake and happened only as a result of entirely too much alcohol coursing through his system. Maybe he should have told her that the entire time his lips were on hers and his hands in her hair, he was imagining that cute boy from their vocal workshop with the pastel blue hair.
“Fuck!” Blaine cursed and then burst out laughing as he tripped and stumbled into another body. He sincerely hoped that he had spilled his drink. For one, what a waste of a drink. Blaine cleared his throat upon seeing who it was he had collided with. “I’m…I’m so sorry. I..I don’t know what happened, I think I lost the floor a moment .Are you okay?”
