ITS SO SCARY LOOKING FOR SOURCEMATES HELP

youtuber factive group + source controversies + obscure source = us actually being afraid to seek out sourcemates.

funnily enough, its easier to interact in our source's community than in designated plural spaces with source calling (instead of the other way around). we just gotta not disclose we're even plural in the first place, let alone actually have factives of the people involved in said source.

It's relatable for some of us whose fact-sources are famous, that plural communities are less friendly to us than fandom communities... but that friendliness is conditional, because they don't know our/your identity, your selves. I think you're worth more than conditional acceptance. I hope you can find safety somewhere. 💜

honestly, even after being accepted with my closest of friends i still can't get rid of the shame of it all with my source. feels like for any factfolk space out there people will think i'm either trolling or doing it all for fun to gain respect from the people who knew my source. they're not true and all, but i feel like i could be talking to my source's friends, or anyone who knew my source and would tell others about me and other factfolk. not sure how to accept this still

Mod Reaper: Thank you for sending your message, ☄️ Anon. I hear what you are saying - shame gets its claws deep inside, and thus it's hard to uproot. I sympathize with you, and I'm sorry to hear that you feel that even fact-folk spaces might be judging you behind your back. These feelings are understandable, being born from that shame... and the paranoia from being a factive in an unaccepting outside world and an alterhuman community that tolerates and side-eyes you at best. It doesn't make you a lesser person or factive to feel shame and to take a long time healing from it.

I'd like to tell you, though, that people outside of you(r system) may not scrutinize you as much as you scrutinize yourself. Some people don't care to look up factive sources. Secondly, those who do, and those who know your source, should not be judging you. Especially in fact-folk spaces, where people are usually more accepting due to having the same experience with stigma and shame and paranoia.

(If they do judge you, they are in the wrong, and I hope you can find ways to protect yourselves from judgmental people.)

Also, I think, just hanging out in fact-folks spaces, even just a few minutes a week, might be good, simply because of the exposure to acceptance and other fact-folks existing and even showing their names and photos and experiences.

People who think fact-folks are trolling or just want to gain respect, I think is very dehumanizing because it ignores/denies the fact-folks' agency. So let me tell you:

You, ☄️, are allowed to just exist for yourself and your own reasons and you deserve to have that acknowledged. You're more than a tool for fun/trolling/gaining respect, you don't deserve to be forced to revolve your existence around others, and you deserve to feel safe being yourself.

i hate it when people say that systems only have factives of well know/famous people,cus im a factive of an ex friend of the host and it just makes me feel less valid when people say that i cant excist

Mod Silhouette: People are so often caught in beliefs that confirm their biases. It's not fair to you and other factives of non-famous people.

You are allowed to exist, and your existence is valid. You deserve respect for that. Not to be pushed aside just for anti-factives to mock.

hi so im a wilbur soot factive married to our revivebur fictive and ghostbur fictive, i made my intro and got some rude comments about our relationship and how we shouldnt be married cus its incest (its not) but that doesnt stop me from loving my husbands and talking about them and telling people how much i love them

because of....complications...with my source's irl self and everyone else's source's irl selves...i kinda feel like i have to be the persecutor who works off the guilty thoughts and feelings we have of still liking our source in the Year of Our Lord 2025.

she hated a lot of them when she left. yet i...don't hate them (both in-system and the irl self counterparts). yet i almost feel like i *have* to hate them???

mod sea: i promise you don't. just because your counterpart did doesn't mean you have to - no matter how connected you are to her, you shouldn't have to feel guilty about your source and who you are. i hope these feelings ease soon for you.
