FAEL
And my last ArtFight Attack for the season (and honestly my favorite). Featuring Ravi by fizziisoda (https://fizziisoda.carrd.co/) and my OC Fael, a wolf spirit and guardian of the forest who helps guide and protect lost children. They just seemed like the perfect pair to interact. I like to imagine the two of them meet in the woods and silly shenanigans ensue as Fael helps lead Ravi safely out of the woods. Artfight was a lot of fun. I think I'll give it another try next year, maybe add another OC or two for people to interact with. (I haven't many to be honest, it's been a while since I'd made any, fanOCs or otherwise)
Fael! (he/him)
He was a shepard, and became Ariest's friend after Hirian (Ariest's boyfriend) died. Kinda pulled Ari out of the depressive hole he was digging himself into, he was a friend, a shoulder for him to lean on, someone who brought him some sliver of happiness in the worst moment of his life so far.
But their friendship didn't last much more than a year. Ghaterieu, also extremely hurt by Hirian's death, misinterpreted badly their relationship, thinking he was already replacing Hirian not even a year after he died. They had one of the worst fights they ever had, in which Ariest stormed off and wasn't seen again until four thousand years later
Fael kept going to his temple regularly, waiting for him to come back. He put up offerings, lit up candles, kept it clean alongside the few remaining priests Ari had, right until his last few years. He never gave up on hoping he'd be back. And he was right, just happened a few millenia too late.
why do elves with white hair do this to me

[The fael is one of the unique undead to Dark Sun, and got sort of updated in 3.0 as the “famine spirit” from Monster Manual II. The famine spirit is somewhat notorious for being one of the worst balanced monsters in the game, being a CR 19 creature with an AC of 18 that deals an average of 17 damage a round. It has a vorpal bite, which is inspired by the fael, which is presumably why it got slotted in at such a high CR despite no other abilities that warrant it. The famine spirit also completely ignores the fael’s flavor text, which is a shame. The idea of a stranger coming into your house, eating all of the food and then trying to eat you when you complain seems like something out of a fairy tale.]
Fael CR 12 CE Undead Dressed in finery, this humanoid looks clearly dead, with its body the color of a livid corpse and the skin retreating from the nails and hair. Its teeth are filed down to points, and its jaw stretches disturbingly wide.
The fael is sometimes called a famine wight or a ravenous ghoul. They are undead creatures of perpetual hunger, capable of consuming any organic matter. They typically travel in disguise, concealing themselves as mortals and entering taverns, restaurants or private homes and demanding food. Once the food has run out, they insist on butchering pets, eat tablecloths and furniture, or commit other bizarre displays of gluttony. A fael uses magic to prevent creatures from interfering until they are literally eaten out of house and home, and creatures that resist are themselves eaten as well.
Faels eat while they fight, tearing away bloody chunks of flesh with their bites. They can project the hunger they feel onto others, causing excruciating hunger pangs in their enemies. A fael has a few magical tricks, which they typically use to force creatures to face them in melee instead of keeping their distance. A fael has little ranged capacity. If badly pressed, they can retreat into the Ethereal Plane to heal and recover and find a less resistant meal.
A fael is created when a creature dies in the throes of a bout of gluttony, and they commonly arise from the nobility and wealthy classes of society. They can be created from any type of humanoid, although halfling faels (with the young simple template) are surprisingly common. Although many faels are fat, some are instead preposterously thin, having the appearance of a victim of starvation—these may arise from those who had eating disorders in life, or whose sin of gluttony was more metaphorical.
