Finally remembered to post this 😅

I redrew one of my first posts on Instagram back in 2018!  This is my OC Autumn and he's from another story I'm working on.  He's half faerie, half god, basically.  His mother is the Queen of Spiders, one of four goddesses ruling over his home.  Autumn used to have wings, but he evidently lost them somehow.

I think my favourite thing to colour is floaty, shiny hair.  Just look at it.  He's magical and sparkly and I love him.  Also I was playing with lighting and overlays and I'm really happy with the results.

what do u think of a matthew/thomas/alastair love triangle in tlh?

i think its a great idea, especially because we havent had a love triangle with only one gender. id ship matthew and thomas even though most people ship the other two outcomes bc idk? they just seem better somehow (also,, i follow @fair-wood and now i cant ship either of them with alastair asjwuyv). it also means that alastair could end up with charles. it would mean that ariadne doesnt have to marry charles!! yay!! i think alastair will def end up with another guy bc on the found family tree the records of alastairs kid(s) and partner are “missing” which means that jem couldve destroyed them on purpose to protect alastair bc it was a time when same sex couples were looked down on. i think that alastair adopted with somebody and they kept it from the clave. i dont really have much of an idea, those are just random thoughts. thanks for sending me an ask!! i really appreciate it :)

TLH Theories: Matthew & Thomas are the gay couple —Fairwood?

Ok so I actually meant to do a post about this way but since I am an expert procrastinator I still haven’t. But when @fair-but-wilde-child asked me about it, I gathered it was time.

Here you’ll find why I consider as being “proof” a term I use loosely —mostly about Thomas & Matthew’s sexuality, which I believe to be gay and bisexual respectively, and a little about them together. 

☞ Matthew wears a green carnation in illustrations by Cassandra Jean, which came to be a symbol for gay male communities, even if it also represented other things I think is a relevant clue. I personally believe that Matthew is bisexual, though.

☞ We see that Matthew admires male beauty, or at least certain features in fellow male shadowhunters, in CLS we have two clear instances: he says he doesn’t understand where Thomas’s “hero worship” for Alastair comes from, since the only thing he liked about him was his eyebrows most straight men wouldn’t notice this, and when he says to Brother Zachariah that he is “certain you [Jem] can have a torrid affair when you personally want, of course. Anyone can see that.”

☞ There’s a post where Cassie talks about Matthew cheering Woolsey up, a character we know to be canonically gay, about having a hard time seeing Magnus still as young as when they were together and dating someone else and she ended that bit by saying:

“Well, maybe Matthew can cheer a werewolf up with a chat about aesthetics!”

Is it a coincidence that she chose Matthew of all people? I don’t think so! Sure they share a love about aesthetics, but also possibly a love for other men ;)

☞ I know many think, myself included, that Matthew has a crush on Lucie, as we kind of get that feeling from CLS. However that kind of juxtaposition of wanting to get closer to her and feeling like she didn’t deserve her and maybe her romance with Jesse, I think drove this crush to die down, leaving him open to others.

☞ I believe Thomas has a crush on Alastair, in CLS. We know that he idealizes Alastair, even Cassie has admitted it, what we are not 100% sure of is whether it is due to a crush or just Thomas being a naïve sweetheart. For the purposes of this theory, I am obviously assuming it is a romantic idealization.

Hero worship, however, doesn’t generally last, as it tends to be about seeing people as you want to see them and not as they actually are. Thomas is 16 in CLS, and 14 in the flashback. In TLH, Thomas is 18 and Alastair is 19. It’s been a while! (x)

So the crush is potentially over or almost dying at the beginning of TLH, leaving room for a new love interest, Cassie did say he may get more than one. (x)

☞ When talking about Thomas’s admiration for Alastair, Cassie listed Thomas crushing on a boy, twice, as a possible reason/meaning, and none were Matthew, but we know how cheeky Cassie can be:

The admiration Thomas feels for Alastair in CLS is obvious, but what that admiration means is still totally up for speculation. Maybe Thomas wants to be more like Alastair: Thomas is shy and careful with words, and Alastair has no problem saying whatever he wants at the top of his voice. Maybe Thomas has a crush. Maybe Thomas wants to be Alastair’s parabatai. Maybe Alastair showed Thomas a picture of Cordelia, and Thomas can’t wait for that foxy minx to get to London, and for Alastair to put in a good word. Maybe Thomas has a crush on Christopher and wants Alastair’s sage advice. (x)

So we could take that as a wink, wink from Cassie. In fact from the answers I read about the TLH characters’ sexualities, Thomas and Matthew’s are the ones she’s been more vague about —No one has seemed to question James’s, but even about Alastair’s she hasn’t replied as she has in regard to this pair.

☞ In this post, Cassie says the S4 “are super entertained that shy Thomas went off and clearly had a WILD TIME in Spain, and they are always pesting him about it, while Thomas laughs but fends them off”. and that “Almost everyone Thomas knows is going to be surprised by him”. We know he used to be very shy and spoke little, so maybe openly coming out would be surprising to the people around him?

☞ Thomas got “a bunch more confidence” in Spain, where he flourished, “and through TLH he’s negotiating the new ways he wants to be treated, and seen.” In turn, this may allow him to do things such as maybe confessing his feelings to Matthew, to which Matthew could reply:

“But of course, your sentiments are reciprocated.”

Gotta admit that sounds like something Matthew would say.

I believe he also dared confess because, on top of his newly-gained confidence, "quiet Thomas is a sharp observer,” and at this point, he’d have noticed that Matthew is queer, and possibly that he liked him back.

☞ It is also very frequent to see a romantic relationship blossom between two life-long friends, and since we see it in TDA and we know that TLH connects with it a lot, this may be a mirror of another type of such a relationship.

☞ I also believe that Matthew and Thomas complement each other quite well, we’ve been told opposites attract time after time for a reason.

☞ Let me start the Pinterest craze by saying most of the gay aesthetic pics Cassie has pinned have a blond and a brunette.

☞ She has a pin of two boys, looking at each other on the floor, with this caption:

He yanked him downward, and in a moment they were rolling on the carpet like puppies, Matthew laughing uncontrollably... (x)

If this doesn’t hint at Matthew having a romantic moment with another boy, I don’t know what does.

☞ There’s another pin of a boy that, in my opinion, looks like Thomas, with a quote that could be considered flirtatious with some imagination

“What’s that little smile of yours?” Matthew inquired. “You look as if you’re about to laugh.” (x)

I know this is wishful thinking, but what can I say, I ship them.

☞ Again taking to Pinterest, there’s a picture of two boys lying very close to each other wishful thinking, yet again, with the caption S4, but again there’s only two.

I’d like to point out that she’s used people’s names in other pictures, captioned Matthew and James, Thomas and Christopher, James and Daisy, Cordelia and Lucie, etc. But none with these two; could she be avoiding it on purpose, so as to not raise suspicions?

As you can see my theory relies heavily on their sexual orientations, as I don’t really have much proof for both of them together, since we still don’t have much TLH content.
