jay never really celebrated christmas on the isle, he was lucky if he shared a meal with his father without the other’s mood swinging into rage. although most off the time he only cooked for himself, and jay just stole whatever he could to survive the best he could. christmas wasn’t any different for him. but here ? at auradon, it’s.. pretty sick! they made a huge deal about it. even before christmas the celebrations were all over the top, glitters and shiny things everywhere --- he might’ve nearly swiped some stuff, old habbits and all that. not that carlos let him, the guy was sort of his moral compass -- reminded him he didn’t have to anymore. but carlos was okay with one shiny lamp being taken, that now lights up their room. it’s not much, but he wasn’t going to actually get stuff to decorate his room. other than this tiny stolen lamp that is. and jay thought he got away with it, that is until jane came over and insisted she and carlos actually decorated the place. he wasn’t going to be in the way about it but like hell was he going to be around when they do it. aaaand then he was around.
either way, he’d been at the party. enjoying the foods & music and just having a great time in general, he lost sight of carlos, evie and mal early on. he knows carlos and jane were having a great time, and he assumed so did mal and ben. he hadn’t really known what evie was up to, or with who, but he tried not to dwell on that. they’re just friends --- family, he reminds himself. he must’ve dozed off to sleep on the bed, still fully clothed. the knocking woke him up, and since he was still half asleep he was slightly annoyed at it. assuming it was carlos who - may or may not have forgotten his keys or lost it, or been drunk enough to------ but as he opens the door he finds evie instead. oh. his eyes follow her glance inside his room, arms folding together as he leans casually against the doorpost, this charming smile spreads across his face. ‘’yeah.’’ it was kind of adorable, and they were really great for each other. and then he remembers the ONE thing he had influence on when jane and carlos decorated the place. and remembering, his eyes wander up to the mistletoe above them. ‘’you can stay of course, take carlos’ bed. he won’t be back tonight.’’ jay had a feeling carlos would be with jane all night, and even if he came back jay could always let her sleep on his bed. but first things first. ‘’so?’’ he asks, gesturing to the mistletoe once more. hey --- why shouldn’t he get some fun out of this one? besides, it’s not like it never crossed his mind. ‘’wouldn’t want to ruin tradition, right?’’ he asks, leaning closer slightly. but he wouldn’t do it unless she wants him to, so he waits for any form of response from her.
