Parting thoughts below.

I like to think, drawing on Day Two's contribution, that if Kanis had gotten away, he would have become a mercenary or highwayman. Some rogueish oaf who can't keep out of trouble or shut his yap when it matters, but sleeps in a bed almost every night. And sometimes there's someone waiting for him.

But there are no what-ifs in Kanis' life, just hard ground and an endless march under a red banner.

Fallout OC week: Castus and Crixus

A pair of Legionaries serving patrol duty on the eastern border of the Legion's territory, a quiet assignment far from most of the fighting. It is considered a place for older, injured, inexperienced, disgraced, or otherwise inferior troops.

Castus was the son of a village baker who idolized the Legion after they wiped out the raider gang that extorted his town for tributes. He was eager to join but he was already in his late teens at the time. He was neither a child soldier nor a warrior from an assimilated tribe so he was relegated to the protection of a relatively peaceful border.

Crixus was a veteran of the war in the west, a child soldier trained from birth to serve the Legion. His unit fought bravely but, after a failed mission, Caesar ordered them decimated (a randomly selected 1/10 of the unit is executed by the other 9/10). The surviving members are sent east for border duty. He had been fully indoctrinated into worshiping Caesar but being forced to kill friends he'd grown up with was a crack in his programming. He is already disillusioned with the Legion by the time he reaches his new assignment.

The two are stationed together on a lonely border outpost with nothing to do but talk. Castus is amazed by Crixus' tales of adventure in far off lands. Crixus is charmed by Castus' stories of ordinary civilian life with a family in a small town, something he never got to have. The two soon fall in love.

Somehow their relationship is discovered and they receive a message threatening to reveal their homosexual relationship to the Legion. The blackmailer doesn't demand money or information, only that they allow certain groups of people past their outpost with no trouble. They soon realized, based on the people's clothes, that these were runaway slaves being funneled to freedom.

The demands of the blackmailer grew. At first they were just told to let the slaves through. Then they were ordered to have supplies waiting for them. Soon they were actively escorting runaway slaves themselves.

They don't know who the blackmailer is. Perhaps the Railroad or the Abolitionists they've heard about in the east. But they are growing desperate to find a way out of their predicament.

@falloutocweek Platinum's boys, she moves some of them into the Gomorrah when it needs new maintenance and the perfect people for that are in her thoughts; Samuel Cooke and Boxcars. Plati gives this faction more credence than they probably deserve, but in addition to setting up a casino with her "boys" she keeps contact with Joe Cobb overseeing Goodsprings and Eddie and Scrambler from the NCRCF. I FORGOT TO DRAW SHERRIF MEYERS FUCK-- Anyways life put me way behind in addition to me dicing I needed to draw like eight different things LETS TRYN CATCH UP. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy my interpretation of some of the powdergangers thanku--

Fallout OC Week Day 3 | Memory or Raison D’être (the most important reason or purpose for someone or something’s existence) @falloutocweek A Memory...

Funny how Nipton seems to leave a mark on most couriers, its definitely a defined breaking point for all of mine.

And break Nipton did; It was where Platinum sort of gave up on stumbling across a "home" because it seemed so hopeless. Could she have been from here? What about anywhere else The Legion ransacked to prove a point? It was more likely that wherever she belonged had been raised and anyone who remembered her killed, and fate deemed to use The Powdergangers on the cross as something of a metaphor as she had built up a PRETTY GOOD relationship with them. Regardless of not remembering most of the night she drank and talked with Boxcars who would go on to be something of a confidant to her. Platinum still thinks if she were in Nipton during the lottery things would have gone differently. This is delusional, but let her have it.
