Okay, so yk how Sokka and Suki gain mutual respect for each other over the course of The Kyoshi Warriors Episode. I think about this all the time like I just wonder HOW they developed their feelings for each other? They are my OTP so I need y’all’s HEADCANNONS!

Okay the things that has always confused me is WHY did Suki kiss Sokka on the cheek? There was no indication that she had a crush on him in the Kyoshi Warrior episode. Maybe she had an attraction but they only knew each other for a little less than a week. Is kissing on the cheek a gesture of friendship or respect on Kyoshi Island? Maybe...BUT the way I counter that is that she kisses him and then says, “but I’m a girl too.” So MAYBE she started developing feelings for him. It’s also important to note that Suki was supposed to be a one time character but then people loved her so much they developed her into team avatar and as Sokka’s gf. So what did that kiss mean if she was only meant for one episode? What do y’all think? I feel like after he left she thought about him ALL THE TIME. Kyoshi Island is isolated so this boy waltzing in was probably a HUGE deal and flipped her perception of relationships upside down perhaps. Her and the warriors left to help in the war effort but SHE LEFT because Sokka inspired her. Do y’all think she also left in hopes of running into him again...hmm maybe. It’s very present in the Serpent’s Pass episode that she had a massive crush on him and failed at flirting because again she hasn’t had much time to do the “but I’m a girl too” part until Sokka came along.

Okay now that I analyzed Suki a bit WHAT ABOUT Sokka? I honestly think he liked Suki for her personality at first and that he thought she was pretty. Especially after all that training they did. I really wonder what they talked about during those days all the time. I feel like he liked her a lot as a friend at first then respected her as a warrior. Partners in crime of I may add. Now that kiss on the cheek. Let’s note that Sokka has probably never romantically interacted with a girl ever. There aren’t any his age in the SWT as far as we know and he was focused on being a warrior and looking out for Katara. Now that this Kyoshi girl is here he probably had a small crush on her in the beginning. But he also saw her as a great warrior and friend. That kiss probably meant a lot to him and he probably thought about it a lot. I like to think that he thought of Suki every now and then before they reunited in S 2. He evens asks that guy about her in hopes of seeing her again. But at this point I think he was just attracted to her but not interested too much in pursuing a romantic relationship. Now, let’s talk about Yue. Sokka fell in love with Yue for a few weeks if I recall correctly. He wanted to protect her and care for her and not to mention she was drop dead gorgeous and very adorable. After she died and he couldn’t save her Sokka was scared he’d lose the other people he loved without a fight. He reunites with Suki. Notice that the way he hugs her after she kisses his cheek. It’s a very FRIENDLY hug compared to how he embraces her in the Boiling Rock episode. At this point he clearly is excited to reunit and to catch up. He is also obviously attracted to her and they flirt playfully before the actual pass part. Suki’s life was put in danger multiple times on that journey and I FEEL LIKE Sokka reacted the way he did BECAUSE he saw Yue in her and I think he realized that he actually cares deeply for Suki. Like he wanted to protect her like he wanted to protect Yue whimsy he loved. That being said Sokka realized the way he felt toward Suki when he compared the similar feelings he felt when yue was in danger. The same feeling for someone he loved. But I still don’t think Sokka was in love with her yet. But in this episode he realizes that he wants to protect her which is equal to love in Sokka language. It’s apparent to the viewer that he loves her or at least wants to be with her as bf and gf. Let’s also note that Suki came to protect HIM meaning she had already realized her feelings which we can see in this episode.

Now,let’s talk about the Day of Black Sun. Azula teases that Suki was her favorite prisoner to incite emotion out of Sokka. This indicates that Azula personally tortured Suki and if Azula was lying this means that she would at least emotionally torture Suki. This also indicates that Suki did love him and hoped that he would rescue her in her times of deepest trouble. Saying that Suki gave up on him and that she was Azula’s favorite prisoner incites a rage in Sokka. He even cries. I think it’s in this moment that he realizes that Suki is more than a crush/gf. He would do anything to protect her. Let’s remember that when Sokka wants to protect someone that means he loves them.

The boiling rock is when they realize that they are in it. Ride or die. I say this because Suki was willing stay with him despite the chance or escape and Sokka risked everything to rescue her after seeing her. Also they are so sweet in this episode
