I hate when I see people go 'oh America isn't that bad! It's great! Everyone on the news must just be exaggerating or picking the worst parts of it to focus on!' and yeah, in a lot of places America is pretty great. We have things and freedoms not many countries have. On the surface, people are happy, welcoming, contented, and kind. But those people are the lucky ones.

For LGBTQ+ people, America isn't great. It's scary, and dangerous, and people aren't kind.

For plus-sized and conventionally unattractive people, it's not great. It's mean, and judgmental, and harsh.

For disabled people, it isn't great. It's overwhelming, and unfair, and cruel.

For poor people, for immigrants, for sexual assult victims, and other marginalized and/or discriminated against people, America isn't great. That's the reality that I fear is being ignored, especially with the World Cup. So many people are coming into America, seeing all the privileges that the average citizen has, feeling baffled and awed and like the media has been lying to them about America, and they're forgetting about the many struggles that so many other Americans face. It's great that people from other nations are coming here, and feeling welcomed, and are happy here. It's great that there are so many American citizens who are happy, and get to enjoy the freedom and privilege that comes with being an American. But I'm scared that the World Cup will just further hide the very real, very scary things happening in America.

I appreciate that a lot of retailers are trying to carry sizes for normal-size women and not just size 8 and below. But some retailers are still so far behind...

Here’s the options of this sweater in regular sizes:

twelve solids! 20 prints! Cool! But already, please note the ones that are grayed out are unavailable in the size i’ve chosen, which is XL. X FUCKING L. (which by the way I already ordered one and it is probably for a size 12/14)

Here, on the other hand, are the options for “fat people”:

That’s right folks, fat people can only wear 10 solid colors, we don’t deserve stripes and patterns I guess. “Surely fat women don’t want to be conspicuous.” 

Anyway TL;DR wouldn’t it be nice if women of all sizes could just buy clothes

do u have struggles with getting up or walking?

I'm nowhere near big enough to struggle with getting up or walking yet, unfortunately :(

That being said, I have been told that I'm developing a waddle when I'm stuffed! I don't think so. Is this considered a waddle?

i hate how I can't find nice clothes because I'm fat. I was going through the retro stage dresses and looking for something that I liked that would fit me. And nothing. Their largest size doesn't goddamn fit me. Because I'm fucking fat. I hate it. I hate that I literally have a goddamn slideshow of clothing brands that have sizes that fit me, with specific links and examples and such, because I can't just walk into a store or find an online store and know that they have my size. I have to look for plus-size specific brands, and then look for plus-size specific brands that sell alternative clothes. Sometimes, being plus-sized is such a point of pride for me, but most of the time, I'm just fucking fat. And there's no pride in that.

The one thing they never talk about when you're fat is that your drawings will always be 'weird'. I learned to draw people by studying my own body, but I was told I was doing wrong because "people don't look like that usually". I drew all my characters with thick thighs and round stomachs because that's what I thought people looked like. Thats what I look like at least, but I guess fat people aren't people

The fat experience is expressing gratefulness for the existence of escalators and receiving as a reply "yeah but normal staircase are healthier!"
