Please vaccinate your cats against FELV (Feline Leukemia Virus so you don't have to mourn too soon. Please. I am begging you. Please, it's not expensive. Indoor cats can get it too. My beloved boy was indoor-only. Do it for Tux. He didn't deserve to die. His mother gave it to him. It is a horrible disease. Please. He was only three.

15 days till her surgery 😮‍💨

She’s none the wiser but I’m an anxious mess 😭 the life of a cat mom I guess. My relatives keep asking us when we’re gonna have kids but I don’t think I could do it, I’m already stressed with a fur baby, a real baby would kill me.

I just don’t want her to get worse. Kiki is feline leukemia positive which is a disease that attacks her immune system, so any health problem she faces is so much worse. We knew all the risks before we adopted her, we really wanted to give her as good of a life as we could. So far we’ve been so blessed, besides a few colds and ear infections she’s been doing really good. This gum disease is the first major thing she’s had 😭

I’ve been posting a lot about it, if you’ve seen these before you’re probably sick of them. But I love this cat and will do anything to help her.

The cost of her dental surgery is estimated to be $1200 that covers the cleaning, any tooth extractions and her medication. We set up a gofundme, if anyone is able to donate we would be forever grateful. If not, any likes or shares would be so appreciated.

We love this cat and want to keep her as healthy and happy as we can.

After Mochi tested positive for FeLV, the vet said all my other cats would need to be tested as well because it is contagious. And due to the cost of it and just the practical aspect of taking multiple cats to the vet, I have to do it one at a time. So this could like... be multiple appointments where I get bad news again and again. I’m taking Dinah today, and I’m nervous. Mochi has been mostly okay the past couple of days though, so at least that’s good. I just wish I could know for sure. I wish there was a treatment. I wish animals, who are nothing but good, never had to struggle. I wish I, a mere human who tries to be a good person, didn’t have to struggle so much because I’ve had more than my share. Keep your fingers crossed for my Dinah girl and my other babies too.

This is Coconut. If you didn’t see my first post, or did, since her vet visit yesterday and learning she has Feline Leukemia, I felt this had to be updated. Coconut was living in the woods outside my house and I caught her with blood all over her paw/face, swollen lip, scratches all over. She’s in rough shape. 

When the vet told me she had feline leukemia, a fatal disease that typically means death within 2  years, I was destroyed. My goal was to place her after having her recovered and spayed. Now my goal is similar but a lot harder. I’m trying extremely hard to find any rescue or person who has advice or knows someone. Until then, I need help covering her care. I won’t turn her out on the street or euthanize her as long as she isn’t in the decline, which so far I haven’t seen any signs of her reaching the stage where she is suffering. For now she is just a skinny cat who needs love. It’s not like she can’t have a life until then, she can, and I aim to help her.

If you live in the Charlotte NC area or would travel PLEASE consider it, she couldn’t live with healthy cats but some people take in positive cats only, or someone with no cats. It is not contagious to dogs or humans!

If you have a dollar to spare, please consider helping me give her a life. The best one I can. I’m working tirelessly to find resources/rescues/people with advice or connections to find her a long term home, but if that never happens I won’t turn her away. She’s suffered enough.

The costs so far have been her testing (40) which kind people helped me cover. Next I need to give her a series of shots before spaying. There’s a chance she’s pregnant and for obvious reasons she cannot have children because they’d also have a fatal disease. Food, I am covering, and while I’d appreciate help its more the medical I need aid with.

What funds will go to:

A full examination/blood work - Distemper - Rabies - Spaying - If I can afford another test to confirm 100000% she has leukemia, that would also be amazing but it’s unlikely the snap was wrong, it’s just something if I had the luxury of doing, I would. 

I’ve had some amazing people help so far, and kind words, which please believe me when I say I just want to break down and cry but that won’t help Coconut, from what I can assume no one has helped her, she’s been tossed aside, for being sick, or for being not important to whoever decided she wasn’t. But she is to me, and I hope she is to you.

Hello we currently have a kitten that needs a home! We live near Detroit Michigan and are willing to put her in a willing home to anyone in the Michigan area. This little cat is positive for feline leukemia, so she MUST be an only cat. However, she doesn’t let this get her down! She is a very active playful cat who’s as sweet as pie and ready to cuddle into your heart. If anyone is interested, please shoot me a message! Hello everyone. This is Poe.

In October of 2016, we found a very skittish yet sweet cat in our backyard. Lonely and hungry, he decided to trust us and let us feed him. We learned after asking around in our neighborhood that this cat had been abandoned and left behind when his old family moved in June of that year. Fast forward to November and we have a new cat inside our house.

On a side note, Poe had both feline AIDs and feline leukemia, so he was considered unadoptable. Our vet told us that he usually puts these cats to sleep. But Poe was healthy at the time and he still is. We did not have it in our hearts to put down a cat that is capable of living happily, even if it isn’t for as long as a normal cat. In fact, after much care from us, Poe shed the feline leukemia! We could have put him down, but we gave him a chance. He still has the feline AIDs, but with lots of attention to his medical needs, he will live a good life.

Even though we could tell he was scared outside, it quickly became apparent just how traumatized Poe was once he was in our house. He jumped at every sound. His tail was always tucked between his legs. He hid behind my desk and couldn’t come out into the open of my room until my room’s door was closed. He existed in my room for a few good weeks, with only glimpses of the rest of the house.

When he’s comfortable, Poe is an angel. His love for being pet is unmatched. He slowly blinks at me or he will bunt against me to show affection. He loves to play with little mice toys. He practically sings operas for his breakfast and dinner. He sleeps on my pillow at night.

And slowly but surely, Poe crawled outside of his shell. He started with the hallway just outside my bedroom. Then the downstairs when no one was awake. This process took literal months, but now you can see that he is relaxing in our downstairs window, happy and content. He’s still a scaredy cat, but the progress is inarguable. 

I wanted to tell you all of this because many people do not consider the shy cats when adopting. They overlook them in favor of the more confident ones. While confident cats are just as good as any other cat, they do not have trouble getting adopted. It is the shy cats, the traumatized cats, that people often brush aside. Maybe it’s because they worry about a challenge (which is totally valid), or maybe it’s because they fear the cat will never be happy (also a valid worry). 

I won’t argue that having a shy or traumatized cat is not a challenge. It is, and if someone isn’t up to it, they certainly shouldn’t feel obligated to take up such a challenge. But I can say that nurturing and caring for a shy cat is a reward in and of itself. Maybe they might never be “confident,” but with love and support, they can be happy. And when they are happy, they are wonderful and amazing companions.

So please just consider the shy ones. Not just cats, but any animal that needs it. It might take some time, but you can find a great pet behind their fear and anxiety.

Today is 7 months since my baby lost his battle with feline AIDS <3 this is just a small appreciation post in memory of my sweet baby and a reminder that you should always get your cats neutered AND vacations. If I knew this sooner I would’ve gotten him help sooner (he was born with it but that’s a different story). Even if you can’t afford to get your cat its vacations , please PLEASE get them neutered, neutering not only prevent unwanted kittens but also prevents your cat from passing on feline AIDS and Leukaemia to other unfortunate kitties (I know this is how it is for males but I’m not sure about females).

If there’s a cat you see on the street or a cat which often comes to your house and it’s showing visual signs that it’s unwell, give them food and water if you can. If the kitty won’t drink or eat, mix a small amount of the liquid that’s in a tin of tuna in with a bowl of warm water, the tuna water has a strong smell which helps if they’re nose is blocked (and it probably is), and the warm water hydrate them and give them a bit of warmth and energy.

If I’d known sooner about feline AIDs my baby would probably still be here but since I was never informed I never knew about it. So please SHARE this information with others by reblogging, posting your own text informing people, or even just passing on the message to others in real life. It could potentially save a cats life.
