Joe x Nicky Weapons - Movies and Comics
Kamen Rider Hibiki Ongeki Weapons (SIC)
Y'know, even if I hate on Hibiki's second half for being Not Very Good™, I do still enjoy its first half.
I also eternally love the SIC Hibiki Figures with their weird nonsense Ongeki Weapons.
So uh here's a post about those ig. Because its like midnight as I'm writing this and I'm bored. Apologies if these images aren't the best, I'm taking what images I can find from the RiderWiki so....
First up, Kamen Rider Gouki's Ongekibo Kongou ("Adamantine", in english). In the actual show, Gouki uses the Ongekibo Gouriki ("Strength Power"), which are just a pair regular Ongekibo, but in SIC are replaced with these, which are roughly a mid-size version of the Ongekibo, bigger than normal but bigger than the Ongekikanabo seen in Hibiki's movie.
Other than that nothing really worth noting. Just big club drum sticks. Still cool to see though.
And with this, we're already getting into new territory. Kamen Rider Sabaki's... Unnamed Ongekikan! Just referred to as an "Old-Type Ongekikan". Well that's a touch boring. Still, iirc the only Ongekikan we really see in Hibiki is the trumpet-type wielded by Ibuki.
In the World of Hibiki Arc for Kamen Rider Decade, we actually see a proper prop version of this type of Ongekikan as part of That Scene at the end of the arc.
You've seen it, even if you think you haven't. Say what one will about Decade, but that scene has more respect for the entire og show than its latter half did, that's for damn sure... =_=
Next up, Kamen Rider Shouki's Ongekikan Taifu ("Typhoon")! Unlike the others, this one is a French Horn!
I do like how it attaches to the armor on the Oni form and becomes a shoulder cannon for its Jugeki mode. Just something I think SIC's over-exaggerated style lends itself to, y'feel me?
And the Ongeki Mode! Again, it's a French Horn, which I think it kinda underutilized in terms of musical intrument weapons. Like its always "Trumpets but Guns!" "Drumsticks but clubs!" "Guitars but literal axes!". Show some uniqueness! Give us something new!
Sorry that got away from me, what were we doing?
Oh yeah, SIC Ongeki Weapons.
Y'know the fact the Ongekikan/Brasswinds take up like. Half of this post is kinda throwing me off.
Welp, here we have Kamen Rider Touki's Ongekikan Arashi ("Storm")! It's a herald trumpet, the kind with the flags on em you see in art and during parades and all that. From supplemental material, Touki just wields a trumpet in the show itself, but that's boring! So Herald Trumpet it is!
I think of all the Ongekikan, this and the old-style ones lend themselves most to being wielded like guns, which is what the Jugeki modes are. I mean its in the name. Jugeki. Gun Attack.
And that's it for the brasswinds! In terms of overall design, I like Taifu the most. The French Horn/Shoulder Cannon thing is just cool IMO.
Next up, the Ongekigen! So Guitars they're guitars.
First up are Kamen Rider Banki's Ongekigen Togenkyo ("Bladed Chord Echo").
Unlike most of the other Ongekigen, this one can split in two, as seen above, and when combined...
Become a double-necked guitar! This is actually one of the my favorite SIC Ongeki Weapons overall, because a pair of polearms that combine into a guitar to destroy monsters is just so insane when said out loud yet is played so earnestly and straightly that it wraps back around to being cool.
The fact they're mainly black, white, yellow, and gold helps, as that's a good color scheme to have. Gold and yellow are both colors that're hard to make work in a color scheme without them overwhelming every other color, so the contrasting neutrals of black and white work, keeping everything balanced while still letting the former two pop out.
And finally!
SIC Kamen Rider Shuki's Ongekigen Kitara ("Demonic Great Music"), which has a completely different look from its show version.
In contrast to the show version, the Kitara in the SIC version takes more after a harp guitar and is intentionally made to resemble Kamen Rider Zanki's Retsuzan, which is fitting as she's actually his former master from his time as an apprentice Oni.
"Kithara", for those curious, is actually the term for the more professional version of a lyre, which was seen as more of a folk instrument.
To use an analogy, to my understanding it's kinda like the difference between acoustic and electric guitars.
And with that, that's all of them! At least the one's I could find images for.
have fun, and remember! Shutting Hibiki off at Episode 29 and imaging a fanfic continuation is infinitely more valid than the rest of that show!
Some alien weapon concepts! These are wielded by 2 therapod-like species, who can't wield human weapons very well due to their anatomy. As a result, the ergonomics here are a little different! The top two are energy weapons, and the bottom design is an airgun.
Something I’ve been meaning to do for a while. Drawing weapons!
A bit different form my usual character designs but can’t have my fantasy adventurers go around without a trusty weapon now, right?
These are some weapon practice designs, the lore is based off of in game weapons from Wynncraft which is an MMORPG in Minecraft, so all the weapons are quite pixelated in-game.
I designed a weapon for my OC to use, and I've decided to call it the Fishing Line. It's like a rope dart, but with the inclusion of a reel and a claw grabber. The reel is to control rope length and for additional versatility, while the claw grabber is for having an extra edge while manipulating the rope. I imagine that it would be needed because of how unpredictable a retracting string can be! I called it the Fishing Line because it can be twirled and thrown like one. What do you think of it?
This sounds a bit like a real Chinese device called "Flying Claw", which is like a rope dart except, surprise, with a claw. Since that already exists, your design is pretty sound.
I'm less sure about the reel. It reads like an unnecessary extra complication which, unless really big and sturdy (thus inconvenient) has a risk of breaking or jamming at a crucial moment.
Of course the advantage of fictional weapons is that they can be 100% reliable unless plot demands otherwise. :->
HTH
Underused weapons in fiction
(I am not an expert in case you couldn’t tell)
1️⃣ Baton:
These work for pretty much any genre. For realistic fiction they’re just normal bats, but it’ll still hurt a LOT. In fantasy, you can give them some kind of magical property (ex: whatever it hits turns to ice). If you can’t think of anything, just put something sharp on it like nails. Nobody’s walking that off.
2️⃣ lasso:
This might be more of a fantasy thing, but if you can make it work in realistic fiction, great job! If you make one that grows and retracts, its use would be immeasurable for your characters. Think of how easy it would be to just throw the lasso up to the top of a building and boom!💥They get away.
3️⃣ Halberd
Some might say that it’s just a cooler looking spear. They’d be pretty right. BUT if you want a character to get into an argument with someone over the differences between a Halberd and a spear, you get a free scene!

Hey, could you identify what this gun from Blue Archive? It’s wielded by minor robot enemies in a boss fight. The closest gun that I’ve found is an Arcflash EMB-01B but that’s still pretty far off.
The other side of the gun matches the side shown in this picture and the hexagon on the front has a flat black texture. Idk if you want more details and more pictures but I’ll try to get them to you if so when I can get them.
Most of the time Blue Archive uses real guns so I’m curious to find out what gun this is!
While I’m sure the protagonists of the game wield approximately real guns, this weapon is very clearly not based off of any specific real world firearm, and/or is too low detail / low poly to really make any identifying features out. I can tell you, however, that the hexagon below the barrel may actually be a magazine tube for shells, with the boxy foregrip being a manual pump.
Overall it’s very, VERY close to many other generic sci-fi rifle designs (it specifically gives me Deepcore GK2 and Splitgate AR vibes).
I mean, again, this is allegedly only wielded by lesser minions in a boss fight. From my game designer’s standpoint, it makes sense that not a lot of effort was put into making it a realistic gun.
@moringmark ‘s bullpup from ship war au. with variations.
