Findlay Napier & The Bar Room Mountaineers-When Harry Met Charlie

Title: When Harry Met Charlie Artwork: Type: Single Record Label: The Haymaker Recording Company There aren't many bands that write songs about the meeting of Charles Darwin and a tortoise but that's exactly what Findlay Napier & The Bar Room Mountaineers have done and it's something of a majestic beauty of a song. When Harry Met Charlie is a lovely folky number complete with strummed acoustic guitar, subtle strings and a wonderful rootsy vocal croon by Findlay himself. The track is a well-written intriguing tale with clever warm lyrics and catchy melodies that'll appeal to the modern day folk fan and lovers of more traditional fare. The single is backed with another version of the title track that adds to more instrumentation and more vocal harmonies to an already epic tale. But perhaps the most intriguing song on this three-track affair, is the Andy Taylor remix of Out All Night, a track that brings to mind a stripped down Arab Strap with added electronica, showcasing a different side to Findlay and his band, perhaps one that they may want to investigate further in the future. All in all this is a brilliant showcase to a rare new talent, Findlay Napier & The Bar Room Mountaineers bring a new twist to the folk genre that should be welcomed with open arms.
