Synopsis :

As a disciple of the Lei Clan, Lei Wu Jie can't wait to prove his worth as a hero, but as a novice who has only just entered the martial arts world, the path to becoming a true hero is difficult, at best. Undeterred by the challenges that lay before him, Wu Jie makes his way to the great city of Xue Yue, certain that his time there will mould him into the hero he so longs to be. Unfortunately, his trip to Xue Yue is waylaid by an unfortunate mishap at the Villa of Fallen Snow.

As proprietor of the Villa, Xiao Se has all the looks of a wealthy innkeeper, but he can barely afford to keep the inn open. Struggling with his business, Xiao Se is less than pleased when his establishment is damaged by the antics of a young, wannabe hero. Demanding that he make amends for the damage he caused, Wu Jie can think of only one way to appease the grumpy Xiao Se, and that is to take him with him. With no other options, the two set off together without any idea of what fate has in store for them.

Befriending several people along the way, including Wu Xin, Sikong Qian Luo, Tang Lian, and Ye Ruo Yi, Xiao Se and Wu Jie soon find themselves caught up in an adventure far greater than any of them could have imagined. While facing countless dangers, the group stumbles upon a trail of clues that tie one of them to a battle for the throne that took place over a decade ago. The question is, is the intrepid hero ready and willing to take his rightful place as the leader of the people? And where will the brotherhood go from there?

My thoughts on this drama :

Okay… this drama is AWESOME. I wasn't expecting much, due to it being Wuxia style and thus not "fantasy" enough for me. But man was I wrong. It's just so so good.

I loved every second of it. They're all bringing such vibrant characters to life, with the emotions just right. I trully enjoyed the variety of characters the show offered. I laughed and cried and raged and applauded! I trully lived the story from beginning to end.

A very very good point: romance is never the focus of the story. It's there, in the background, but it's first and foremost a story about brotherhood, friendship and bonds against adversity.

100% recommended!

my top 9 picks on youth with you.

so after the third elimination and the reveal of the top 20, the final mission is gonna happen anytime soon and before it happens i want to tell you my top picks on the show. this list has definitely changed throughout the course of the show so this list is my final draft.

i will do an honorable mentions post soon to share who i wanted in the top 9 before they were eliminated. if anyone else wants to share their picks with me feel free to share!

so in no particular order:

xie keyin. (shaking)

she can do it all. she can sing, dance and rap and give out an amazing performance. i loved her “mama” and “non-daily revelry” performance, which proves that she can pull off any concept. she’s also great in variety shows and never fails to make me laugh.

xu jiaqi. (kiki)

center material. she truly shines onstage whether she’s the center or not. her performance quality is superb and her smooth dance skills enhances her stage presence. i fell in love with her during “the eve” and ever since then, i’ve been rooting for her.

zhao xiaotong.

another triple threat i like. she’s a great dancer and vocal but she also proved herself to be a pretty good rapper. my fave performance of hers has to be “ambush on all sides 2” despite her team losing to team b. that was my fave concept for her, but i also loved her on “love circulation” and “non-daily revelry”.

flora my love. my latest girl crush. i love her voice, when she sings, i’ve been transported to the moon and back. i also love the way she dances, it’s like she floating instead of standing. i love her performance on “light orange island” and “r&b all night” oh that outfit with the tulle? perfection.

zeng keni. (jenny)

im in love with jenny z. the way she dances is just wonderful like, im surprised with many trainees dancing really well despite being tall. i noticed her during “the eve” but my love for her blossomed when she did “no company”. when she said let me see your face im so gonna send her a selfie.

lu keran. (k)

the first person i noticed. she was like that cool biker chic you wouldn’t wanna mess with but really she’s a sweetheart. she completely stole my heart the minute she walked in but her performances in “the eve” and “no company” blew me away. her performance quality has improved throughout the show and i couldn’t be more proud of her.

an qi. (babymonster)

her english name is babymonster for a reason. sweetheart offstage monster onstage. every time she onstage, whether she alone or with a group, she made the stage hers. all the performances she did especially “play” proved to us she is someone to look out for and after four(?) years of training and never standing on stage since, she deserves to shine.

yu yan.

our favourite lion. they way she sings and dance truly makes her intimidating which i love. her “ambush on all sides 2” and “lion” performances were so explosive, she’s like dynamite. i love her stage presences and hopefully she explores more concepts.

liu yuxin. (xin)

you know what they always say, leave best for last. she can sing, dance, rap, put on a variety act and her presences alone just says it all. i love all her performances especially “the eve” and “lion” and there’s something charming about her that draws you in whether she’s your bias or not. also her popping skills are a+ locking jack should be scared of her.

this is my top 9 girls. it was hard for me to make a final list since i liked so many contestants. i wish all these girls the best whether they are part of the girl group or not. let me know who your top 9 girls are!

Youth with You: Update!

Still WOW! This show is so good! Each episode the girls are improving so much and I’m so proud and happy to see their growth. This season it is really hard for me to stick to just a top 9! I like so many girl and think they could shine in a girl group! So before I reveal my top 9 I’d like to explain and give some shout outs. I want it to be known that many of my favs were not included in my top 9 ranking. I chose this as if I was a producer. I will make a separate post about my second Top 9 girls. I’d like to give a personal shout out to Fei Qinyuan, Frhanm Shangguan, Shaking, Xinran Song, Air Su and Xin Liu. They are all great and I love them also.  This ranking is also NOT in order of my personal favorites but how I think the group would be the most successful. __________________________________________________________
