This guy was hanging out under the bird feeder yesterday. Cheeky monkey! This morning I checked to make sure he had left. He was still there. I am used to the behavior of my non-venomous friends so I thought he might be dead. I threw pebbles and twigs with no reaction. I started scooping him up with a shovel to get rid of the "corpse". He sure did wake up then! I guess he was sleeping off a big meal. #easterndiamondback #rattlesnake #floridasnakes #floridaherps #watchwhereyoustep #floridaherping #snakes (at Palm City, Florida)

One of the baby gopher tortoises in my yard. They may have a little edge in areas where people walk their dogs. Turtle predators like raccoons are less inclined to hang out in an area with fresh signs of dogs. #endextinction #gopheruspolyphemus #gophertortoise #tortoises #tortoise #turtle #floridaherps #floridawildlifephotography #floridawinter #Florida #pesticidefree #roamflorida #reptiles #environment (at Palm City, Florida)
Make your yard a wildlife habitat. Let weeds grow. Plant native plants. It might take a while but the animals will come. While developing goes on around you be a safe space for those who can't talk. #floridawildlifecorridor #floridawildlife #gophertortoise #keystonespecies #Florida #floridaherps #floridaherping #roamflorida #tortoise #tortoises #floridanature #floridanative (at Palm City, Palm City, Florida)
