👋 I'm Janessa- A FL local with an OBSESSIVE love of Photography, regardless of the subject matter- I ESPECIALLY love to take Nature/Wildlife Photos! But when I find something interesting/beautiful, I feel a NEED to capture it's Magic with my Camera!
I have loved Photography for as long as I can remember and began taking Courses as early as High School! I worked at Olan Mills Portrait Studios for a time, and even owned my own Photography Business where I offered untraditional, on-site, Portraits to Families in my Hometown at a low rate.
I currently shoot with a Canon EOS 20D (from 20+ years ago)- I have SERIOUSLY been thinking about upgrading, but I LOVE the Camera that reminds me so much of why I fell in love with Photography- The artistic outlet through composition, lighting, and vision; The story behind each image; And preserving memories! I hadn't shot in YEARS until recently... I was out walking and saw a BEAUTIFUL Great Blue Heron in a Canal as the Sun was lowering and just HAD to have a Photo- When I took that Picture (with my Mobile Phone) I remembered how much I loved (and missed) the Hobby that I have always drifted back to.
Photography is a form of 'Therapy'- It's my outlet from the world and a form of Artistic Expression (which is VERY important to me)- It helps me to promote my own mindfulness, self-reflection, and emotional healing by capturing images to process thoughts, manage stress, and gain new perspectives, leading to enhanced self-worth and a deeper appreciation for life, (something that I struggle with at times)! It has also been great for my Personal Health/Fitness Goals- I've lost just under 200 pounds in the last 2 years, and this allows me to continue to enjoy life even more! And it gives me time to enjoy Nature, which I also love! Photography is the PERFECT hobby for me!
I wanted to share my Photography- The best part of Art, is sharing and enjoying it! I do have intentions on competing in Competitions in the future (I recently did and placed 2nd in the first Round; 11th in the Quarterfinal Round)! I have truly RE-awakened a part of my Soul that has been dormant for FAR too long! And now, I can't get enough, so...
