I’ve considered it in the past but no. Gisele’s not married to Vicky IC, she’s married to the lads. The closest way I can approximate that is having her use Haurchefant’s title (“of the Silver Fuller” forever and ever, even when she finally earns Goddess of Magic like I’m working towards), and she wears the signet of House Fortemps with every outfit (some level 50 something dungeon green ring).

and it’s worth noting when I did consider it for funsies it was when she was still a Mi’qote but I’mma be real, I have a really hard time shipping Lalas with anyone because they’re so damn childlike in appearance. yes I know they aren’t children and they don’t act that way at all (lol Lolorito) but shippy content w them creeps me right tf out tbh. the Valentine’s stuff is funny bc it’s so OTT and mostly played for laughs but it tweaks my csa trauma at times seeing Lalas with any other race on a serious level.

I have killed a lot of ferns :| I’ve been unable to get their needs met properly, for the most part, so I try to avoid buying them any more, though the little Boston fern I got last year is doing ok!

i was debating even posting this because like. was this a super obvious thing already. is that the irony of Walter’s whole tarot shtick. are you meant to think, “oh he got it wrong.”

or are we meant to think of it as “disaster befalling Roland” rather than how i’m thinking “but nothing does change for him; his disasters are all similar to past disasters; he doesn’t Learn anything except softening a bit, which is presumably undone by the next cycle; death (also change), gunslinger, but not for you”

(i admittedly am very dedicated to the reading that “ka isn’t necessarily Good; All Things Serve The Beam isn’t given the proper amount of existential horror; Walter’s and especially Mordred’s (:V) desire to Destroy™ can be read a lot more sympathetically than King makes it out to be” >:|)

omg i have so many but a lot of them are judgmental

we think she’s annoyed we left for a few days lol. I always tell her when we’ll be back and say hi when we get back but for the first couple of days after we return things are pretty wild. or maybe she’s excited we’re back? she’s eight years old so really it could be either. or both.

With most adult Mieville, I find there's a cognitive hump you have to struggle through. For me it's been about a third through the book before things start making sense. Un Lun Dun is not like that though.

I quite liked Un Lun Dun and found it very approachable, so I'd recommend that one. :)
