Frank's View Taken from the ninth floor of the Hotel Finlen, Butte, Montana. I'm not the first photographer to make a pilgrimage to the spot from where Frank made his well-known and evocative image back in 1956. This capture was made sixty-nine years later. You can see Frank's image via this link from the Museum of Modern Art. It's interesting to know that the quiet and unassuming image that Frank made, and chose for his book, The Americans, had such an impact on so many practitioners of the craft.
Many thanks to Sandra at the front desk for helping me out. Image by Richard Koenig; taken September 19th 2025.
