Important!
DO NOT EVER ACCEPT A CALL FROM US BANK!!
There are scammers that can make it look like they are calling from US Bank's exact customer service number. And there are a lot of them.
Only ever speak to US Bank over the phone if YOU are the one making the call, and the number you are calling is the official one on their website. (It will start with an automated voice asking for the last four digits of your social.)
These scammers have your personal information, if you ask them to verify they are with US Bank, they can give you any info you ask for. The only way you can be sure you're speaking with the actual bank is if you make the call yourself.
US BANK WILL NEVER:
Call you about fraud. Ever. (I checked.)
Text you to ask about fraudulent charges.
Ask for a text verification code over the phone.
Have you make an account elsewhere.
Have you make payments to test things.
Have you help them in fraud investigations.
Force you to set up notifications on their app, or others.
Force you to wait for a call back instead of allowing you to call them.
Force you to stay on the line.
Have one specific person working your case.
Call without leaving a voicemail.
ALSO be wary of emails as well. They're very good at making the fake emails look legitimate, but there are little tells. If you're even slightly unsure, call US Bank to verify. Here are examples of a real email from US Bank, and a fake one:
AND NEVER EVER TRANSFER PHYSICAL CASH WITHOUT CONSULTING WITH A PHYSICAL US BANK TELLER (This is true of all banks!!!)
→ No one in any official capacity will ever tell you to transfer funds via cash! Or gift cards! This is true of all things! Not just banks!!!
Please spread and reblog this! There are A LOT of people pulling this scam right now! And more pop up every day!
And please don't put anything in the tags/comments/reblog about how obvious any of this is. It's humiliating enough to get scammed without people on Tumblr rubbing salt in the wound.
