Would you recommend college band for someone who isn't necessarily wishing to pursue a music career?

Yes I do! In the WVU band, only half or even less than half of the members are music majors. Almost every undergraduate major is represented in the band with the majority in engineering. I am majoring in Forensic Science and there are several other forensic students in the band including two others in my section.

So whatever you plan to go to college for, the band is always there for whomever. It takes little to no time out of my schedule but that differs from person to person. The only hard part is the commitment; making sure you’re there at almost every practice and be ready for the next performance.

If you are really wanting to join a college band, go for it! You won’t regret it!
