French imperfect tense
Looking to learn how to use imperfect tense or imparfait?
French imperfect is one one of the commonly used tenses in French.
It is used to describe past situations, people in the past, past habits and more.
To form the imperfect, we consider as stem the nous form in present tense. For example the stem in "Nous parlons" in present tense is PARL.
Then we add the endings ais-ais-ait-ions-iez-aient.
Here is how to speak or parler is conjugated in imparfait.
Je parlais
Tu parlais
Il parlait
Nous parlions
Vous parliez
Ils parlaient
