and the thing about thragg that makes him funny is he doesn't even have the hecking epic bisexual indigenous man who played with dolls excuse like joão caio does he's literally like openly possessive and predatory adn violent the fandom is just like "awwww well surely he went and asked every single one of his indigenized female subjects permission before he made them carry his child whom he would raise in his genetic superarmy in a totally above board manner <3" meanwhile if thragg met john he'd fall to his knees crying out of adulation and jealousy and be like "you... raped a planet?" and john would be like "ah jeez nah yeah mate reckon it was a bit more complicated than that eh i wasn't totally myself yknow reckon i woulda stopped but there was a lot going on at the time eh it's not something i plan on doing again i'm really quite sorry eh"
on the topic of the sudden personality change for the master i just choose to believe that being chameleon arched for a certain amount of time messes with a time lords head. and also… liek yeah girl if i was in some shit called the Time War and then spent a bunch of years being an old man and getting no bitches getting no money there’s fuck all to do except do gay ass science and watch people get eaten by our neighbors like. okay yeah sue me but maybe i wanna have a little funnn and just let my hair down and pretend like tonite is gunna last foreverrrrr
been thinking a lot about lanaya + losing her twin, esp since they were identical even in their late teens - 20s. they were so identical that lanaya hated it at one point. she hated their similarities, then she pushed herself to get her vallaslin to separate them after tara’s death (in that, yes, she did it to honor the halla BUT she also needed a physical, permanent change since everything in her life was temporary -- she also needed to separate herself from tara and needed to be able to look at herself in the mirror again). lanaya does not grieve well. she is angry and tired and sad and filled with so many emotions she could burst. (she’s a water-fire sign, okay).
i’ve also been looking through reddit about " twinless twins " and it gives such a different perspective and why lanaya grieving tara was likely so much more intense and raw from any other loss in her life. (we are very thankful she's not a mage btw, it would have ended poorly, she would have done anything to have her sister back, so).
lanaya’s identity was so deeply connected with her sister. they were “ the twins ”. they argued and fought and sometimes hated each other but they were always together. they went through their childhood together, they lost their older sister together, they endured the alienage and the new life in the clan. you could say they were very attached in a way that was unhealthy. co-dependent, even. lanaya could not imagine a life without her sister and did not want to. this caused a rift between lanaya and the clan but especially deshanna, as she thought nobody was doing enough to save her and if their keeper was such a powerful mage why wasn't she doing more.
large img under the cut but it's from a reddit about twinless twins and basically confirms it's a loss lanaya will never fully recover from. "theres the persistent feeling that a part of you has been veritably amputated, and the remaining scar, as with any amputation, becomes almost impossible to look at, to face."
