you know what? Remember the infamous scene in s3 where mike says he loves el in front of everyone in the group? Well, personally this is one of my favourite scenes in the entire show, but not because of the i love you itself, but because of everything prior to that.

When people talk about this scene, they tend to focus on mike’s confession of love for el, but they forget about everything building up to mike’s outburst in the first place. It was because Max kept repeating that el is her own person, with her own volition, who can make her own damn choices, who shouldn’t be defined or limited by mike who is borderline controlling her.

“Who do you think knows El’s limits better? Mike or Eleven?” This, this damn phrase encapsulates everything, and i can’t stress this enough. Mike says that max is corrupting el but max looks at him and says “im enlightening her”, she’s showing her how to be her own person. There’s a literal minute-long scene where they outright say this shit, and people still want milkvan to be endgame? Let’s be fr.
