here's the finished ref for the other main character of my story "On the Cards" :] his bio is still a wip but i'll add what i have written so far below!
Theodore ("Teddy") Hastings
- university student (Drama and Theatre Studies)
- usually shy and soft-spoken
Teddy has always had trouble making friends, and over the years he's progressively held onto his friendship with Charlie for dear life, allowing Charlie to walk all over him in an attempt to get him to stick around.
About Charlie and Teddy's friendship: they're both part of the youngest generation of the british aristocracy, and their families have been very close for centuries. These two in particular have been best friends since childhood, and nowadays they go to drama school together. Even though they do everything together, they have a rather toxic dynamic. Teddy will do anything Charlie asks him to, and Charlie takes advantage of this by involving Teddy in problems that are entirely Charlie's fault and could've been avoided if he weren't so irresponsible.
Both Teddy and Charlie live in their parents' estates. Although of an equally aristocratic pedigree as Charlie's family, the Hastings have been struggling with exorbitant amounts of debt for decades. They have trouble keeping up with the yearly expenses that their inherited estate demands. In comparison, Charlie's family owns a large law firm that pays for their similarly large estate expenses. Over the past 30 years, the centuries-old relationship between these two families went from being entirely between equals, to a partially transactional relationship. In exchange for the Portmans' occasional monetary aid, Teddy's family is in perpetual debt to them, always being available for favors of all kinds. Still, the families spend much of the time together on eachother's manors, usually getting together for dinner, hunting on the weekends or gossiping about other people in their upper-class social circle. However, there's always an almost imperceptible tension present between them.
