BloggersNurse #30DayChallenge Day 29
Anyone who knows me is well aware of the fact I struggle to pick a favourite anything. I often enjoy things for entirely different reasons, so it’s impossible to pick one representative of everything I feel positive about on any given topic. That same logic applies to my proudest moment. So I’ll just give a few of them instead. 1. As a student, a patient on the ward was notoriously difficult to retrieve blood from. After the nurses struggled to get blood, they asked me to help them. One nurse, who was very conservative with compliments, compared my skills in venepuncture to her own. That made me quite proud of my skills, for sure.
2. In my CAMHS role, one of my young people really enjoyed coming to my clinic every fortnight. Forming that kind of bond with any patient is always something I’m quite proud of.
3. When I was working for the Older Adult community team, I managed to get one man who was notoriously against involvement with us to agree to engage with services. Explaining the rationale behind it in a way he understood, as he was a very staunch, traditional masculinity type of man (as most older men are). Perhaps it helped that I was a male nurse myself.
