- Angels do go through a molting period, but this is—it’s different. When he gets close to his mate there tons of feathers left around the bunker. Sam and Dean wonder if maybe a bird had flown in accidentally. Then one day when you walked into the room, the brothers immediately discovered they came from Castiel. They just appeared as you approached him.
- When he does eventually get the courage to tell you that you’re his mate, you ask to see his wings. Telling him you’ve made a point to collect the feathers you did find because they were so beautiful. Castiel’s are this lovely shade of onyx. They appeared to be black while in the light they reflect a mix of blue and green beneath the light. You were amazed reaching out to touch them, but carefully as Castiel had instructed, “Careful they are… are sensitive.” When your finger brush against the plumage there is no hiding the way he feels. Curling his wings around you and letting you run your fingers through them, just so he can feel you on a different level.
- Another sign was that a strange symbol had appeared on your wrist. It seemingly appeared from nowhere and you definitely had no tattoos that was for sure. So when you showed it to Castiel, he visibly paled before he turned completely red. It had taken him a while to see it.
- Unlike other mates it takes Castiel a while to put things together. Once he does know, expect to never go anywhere alone. To always have him watching over you and absolutely refuses to let you hunt alone. It’s like a no go for him.
- Much like a bird he will bring you gifts and other trinkets he finds, hoping you will like them. His wings fluffing up when you do like something and he kind of just nuzzles you. He very much leans into his more birdlike tendencies than other angels.
- He is very protective of you, so even if they don’t mean it. One bad joke makes Castiel mad and he teleports the boys somewhere random. You felt bad for them, but they were being buttheads so maybe they deserved it.
“Wait? So we are mates?” You ask staring up at him with a confusion.
“It seems that way, yes. I hope you do not find me as a terrible mate for taking so long to see it.” You smile at him. Poor, sweet, and innocent Castiel.
“It’s okay. I am just happy we finally figured it out.” You tell him, eyeing the onyx wings that wrap around you in an embrace, shielding you from the world.
Gabriel:

You had noticed them the most in your room, golden with a tint of brown at the tips, odd. You begin to start collecting them and after weeks it’s starting to get overwhelming. That was until you saw it. Gabriel had stopped by, like he always does, naturally he flirted either you. You flirted back, much to his surprise and that’s when you saw the feather fall.
- Gabriel admits to the feather being his and had been hoping that maybe he could pretend for a little longer. He liked having his dirty little secret, but at the same time he was finally happy to show you off.
- Immediately rubs it in Dean’s face. Once you are officially his mate. Gabriel’s real test is showing you his wings. While he was nervous you were excited to see them. So when all six wings unfold before your very eyes, you go giddy with excitement. “Oh ny gosh, Gabe! They’re so beautiful.” You move to reach out to touch them, but he stops you. “Just be careful. They can be sensitive.” Once you start, you can’t stop. It makes him a little tense at first, but gosh does he enjoy feeling you this way. Their wings are like another part of them.
- Before the feathers, there is an odd symbol that appears on your wrist. At first glance you thought it had been something demonic. So when Crowley stops by you show him the mark and he laughs, “Darling, forgive me. This is an angels mating mark.”
“A who what now?” You ask confused.
“A mating mark. For angels. It means an angel close to you has marked you as its mate.” You look around the bunker, but don’t spot either of them. Odd. Crowley takes his leave, but you wonder.
- Gabriel knew immediately when he met you that you were his mate, the way you laughed at his jokes. Was there to help him pull through the ups and downs of his life. He knew. There was a difference between knowing and telling though and it took him a while. He’s okay with you hunting, but would prefer if he tagged along. He didn’t trust the Winchesters fully just yet.
- Gabriel brings so many gifts. Flowers, jewelry, and any sweets or food he can conjure up. Not to mention the cuddles with him are phenomenal and he finds himself always trying to please you, despite you telling him being his is just good enough. It takes many kisses and cuddles to reassure him. He’s like a big baby.
- You thought that Castiel was protective. That doesn’t even begin to describe the way that Gabriel would instantly take whatever problem or thing that was bothering you out. Demon on your tail, gone. Friends who can’t handle being let go, gone. He would do anything for you and he could get scary when mad. Don’t come for his mate and you’re good.
I am so normal about Gabriel Ultrakill that I headcannon that he would be a really big fan of Rocco and Baroque art. If he ever drew stuff, he would gravitate towards that style hit post.
• Calls you Sweetie, Sweets or Sweetheart (some variation of that ❤ 🍭🍬)
• Really relaxed when it comes to rules unless it's to do with your safety.
• Forgets that you shouldn't eat to many sweets and sweet things. (Probably got prompted by Sam or Cas that he shouldn't be giving you that many sweets.)
• You will never lose plushies/pacifiers/blankets, if you do Gabriel will get it back with a click of his fingers.
• Also if you don't have any/little amount of supplies for when little once he finds out he will absolutely get you items.
• When it comes to bedtime I think he has a bedtime set (that is never followed) however he has a time where your not allowed to be awake anymore. (For example bed time might be 9 o'clock but he knows he won't reinforce that so instead he tells himself your not allowed to stay up later than 11.)
• During the mystery spot he put you in your favourite cartoons and shows instead of with your brothers, He also made sure you were not aware of what happened during that time.
• He will 100% watch Disney amd Pixar movies with you. His favourite is Monsters Inc.
• I also see him watching Carebears with you. I don't know why I just do. 😂
• I don't see him being able to cook very well due to being able to create stuff including food within an instant so he's never had to learn to cook but I think he would try.
• Following on from that, the two of you would do cooking and baking often. You'd teach each other different things.
• He loves cuddles. Absolutely loves them. He thinks they are comforting and wants nothing more than to hug you constantly.
• If you don't like cuddling he will be fine with that, choosing to cuddle your plushies instead. Showing you how much he loves you through that instead.
• He loves to prank your brothers, he's a trickster after all. Once he takes the role of caregiver he will make sure that all pranks on the Winchester brothers are completely harmless. (He definitely lets you help prank them)
• He is protective. He wants to keep you safe and knowing that his brothers could be reason for you not being safe breaks his heart.
• Heals any ouchies you get.
• If you go on a hunt with your brothers he will be watching over you the while time. (And maybe he watches out for your brothers a little bit too. Just enough that they don't get seriously hurt.)
A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
Gabe’s a sweetheart, never ashamed to show you how much he cares for you, even with the Winchesters and their disapproving looks are around. He shows affection through a mix of hugs, little gifts and little nicknames he gives you, but the main one is the hugs, PDA clearly not an issue in his mind. Whenever he’s around, there were hugs, arms wrapped around you from behind with his head resting on your shoulder while you’re doing research for Dean, waiting in bed with open arms for you to collapse into after a long day, and throwing himself at you and never wanting to let go after a long hunt, really anything where he can be holding you.
B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)
Gabriel doesn’t have many close friends, finding the actions of a trickster tend to drive people away more often than drawing them closer, but the friends he does have he holds dear to heart, struggling to express his affection for them but feeling it very strongly.
C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)
Gabe LIVES for cuddles, he wants to be snuggled up to his s/o whenever possible. He can have a tough exterior when he needs to, but when he’s alone with the one he loves all he wants to do is wrap his arms around you and cuddle, wings tucking themselves around you.
D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)
In the back of his mind Gabe knows he wants to settle down with the one he loves, but he also knows that with his being an archangel and your line of work it would put the two of you in danger, so he happily settles with a non-domestic relationship
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
He would be holding back tears as he spoke, knowing it would be best to end things in person instead of hiding behind a phone screen. He doesn’t want to break up, desperately longing to stay with you but knowing you would be safer without such an intimate connection with an archangel, and all he wants to do is protect you. He loves you, so he had to let you go, holding himself together until you had gone, only then would he break down in tears.
F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)
Gabriel didn’t see the point in such things before meeting you, not understanding why anyone would choose commitment over hook ups, but once you came into his life all that changed. He knew long before you started dating that if he had the choice between committing to you and a lifetime of one night stands, he would choose you without hesitation, and once the two of you were dating, he was sure you were the one he would want to marry. He knew of course that marrying you would be difficult and out you at more risk than he was willing to allow, so he settled happily with dating.
G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)\
Gabe’s the most gentle being on the planet when he’s around you, giving you nothing but love and affection, but when something happens to you, even something as little as Dean lashing out at you in frustration over a hunt, he goes dark fast. When Gabriel's protecting you, he’s mad, and when he’s mad, he’s goddamn intimidating. He doesn’t get physical unless absolutely necessary, instead favoring to shout at whoever hurt you until he feels that he got his point across.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
Like cuddles, Gabriel goes batshit for hugs. He always wants his arms to be wrapped around you, his wings sometimes coming to curl around you to join in the moment, his heart swelling every time you smile against his shoulder or lean into the embrace, and loving it the most when you’re the one to throw your arms around his neck, pulling him into a tight hug and pressing your lips to his own.
I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)
He didn’t think much of it the first time he said he loved you, having known his love for you from the day you met and wanting to express it in as many ways as he can. Gabe was planning on telling you after a romantic night out, hoping that it would be the perfect end to the perfect night, but instead it slipped out one evening after a hunt. The two of you were snuggled up to each other on a creaky old motel bed, cracking jokes about the x files rerun playing on tv at the time. You had said something particularly funny, and Gabe had thrown his head back in laughter, arm wrapping around your shoulder and pulling your body to his side with a chuckle of “lordy i love you, sugar”. You had pulled back in surprise, and Gabriel realized what he said, anxiety flooding his chest in the moment of silence, that luckily was broken as a huge smile crossed your face and you launched yourself upwards to meet his lips in a kiss, interrupted only by a mumble of “I love you too”
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)
He avoids acting like the typical jealous boyfriend who doesn’t let his partner spend time around other guys, instead being happy for your relationships with your friends and understanding that you occasionally had to flirt your way out of a bad situation, but he can’t help feeling more than a little jealous when he sees people come up and blatantly hit on you at the bar, always stepping in at the slightest hint of discomfort on your face
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
Gabriel loves to kiss you, with him, each hug came with a kiss, sometimes a soft peck on your cheek, sometimes little kisses along your neck, anything to make you giggle. His favorite was the slow, loving makeout sessions you had sometimes, the ones that didn’t lead to sex, but instead was a silent way of saying i love you, the type of kiss you could pour all your emotions into
L = Little ones (How are they around children?)
Gabe’s pretty impartial with kids, neither liking nor disliking their company, but doesn't like the idea of having or adopting them all that much, feeling very uncomfortable being entrusted to take care of a life so much smaller than his own.
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)
Most mornings you’ll wake up with your limbs entangled with Gabriel’s, soft touches stroking your hair and wings cradling you against his body, but some rare mornings you’ll awaken to the smell of your favorite breakfast cooking, moments later feeling the bed sink next to you and opening your eyes to find the archangel settled down beside you with a tray of food and a warm smile on his face.
N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)
When Gabriel has you to himself for the first time in a while, nights are usually kicked off with passionate lovemaking and ending with you passing out on top of him, thoroughly fucked out. In contrast, most nights with Gabe are spent watching TV or going over the details from a hunt together, the archangel having to pull you away from whatever activity you were invested in and remind you that you need sleep, pulling you into bed to cuddle until you fell asleep.
O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
He started telling you little things before your relationship, trusting you enough as a friend to share his secrets, and trusting you even more once you began dating, telling you little things about himself sometimes when you asked, more often unprompted. The more upsetting things from his past, he always checked with you to be sure you truly wanted to hear it and were in the right headspace before telling the stories, never wanting to overwhelm you.
P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)
You were surprised at how patient Gabriel is with you, knowing he has a bit of a short temper with most of the people he encounters. You found that the biggest thing you could do that would upset Gabe is to put others in front of yourself to the point it began hurting you. He hated to see you struggle, and when your selflessness goes too far and you stop taking care of yourself, he can’t help but get upset.
Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
Gabe’s memory always makes you laugh, it reminding you of all the jokes you see being made about how dads can remember that their kid borrowed $0.50 from them 10 years ago but can’t remember the name of the kid’s friend they’ve known all their life. Gabriel, similar to the dads, never forgets the little things he learns about you, like your favorite candy or your favorite karaoke song, but somehow manages to forget the name of your sibling.
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
Gabriel’s favorite memory of you is when you first met, when you were stuck in the time loop. You caught his eye the first time he put Sam through the loop, transfixed by the way you moved, spoke, everything about you, really, but kept his distance, not wanting to mess up what he had with Sam. He was shocked when you noticed him, even more shocked when you came over to talk. You didn’t know about the time loop, so Gabe knew you were genuinely interested in getting to know him, and he thought it was wonderful, but assumed it was a fluke, that you would return to the Winchesters the next day. To Gabriel’s surprise, though, you found him, again and again, not in the way the loop had affected Dean, having him say the same thing every day; you had come to the trickster a different way each day, each decision unprompted. Even after years had passed from that incident, the memory of how you had chosen Gabriel day after day makes him smile.
S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)
Gabriel feels the most secure while holding you against him, finding the warmth of your body against his own calming, and you felt the same way, finding your way into his arms during a tough time.
T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
He’s always leaving his s/o little gifts to find, your favorite candy here, a rose there, anything to make you smile
U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)
Gabe’s terrible at cleaning up, organization seeming to be a foreign concept to him, which makes hunting with him difficult, as you more often than not would return to the bunker or motel to find a disaster of your notes on the creature you’re after and whatever the hell else Gabriel had brought out, which at one point in time had been a blanket fort that took up half the motel room.
V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)
He spends ages on his hair in the morning, choosing to do it by hand instead of using his grace, but aside from that he’s generally unbothered, knowing he looks good
W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)
Gabe struggles to be away from you, having latched so strongly to the one he loves. There’s always a little part of him that feels empty when you’re gone, that doesn’t go away until you’re together again
X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)
Gabriel knows every ABBA song by heart and is ridiculously proud of it, belting out the lyrics to Mama Mia as he wanders through the bunker, singing Dancing Queen with his toothbrush as a microphone and just beaming when you sing along to Our last summer with him in the impala, much to Sam and Dean’s annoyance.
Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
Not having a sense of humor is a pretty big no for Gabriel, he would struggle not being able to good around with his s/o
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)
Angel Gabe doesn’t sleep, instead choosing to cuddle with his s/o while they sleep, holding you close and keeping you safe through the night, where human Gabe tucks his head under your chin, curls up against you and passes out that way.
I picture Gabriel as the type of person who acts all tough when you threaten to tickle him...until he’s pinned down. Once you do that, he crumbles into a grinning, giggling, pleading mess. He knows he’s about to get wrecked, and he just can’t keep a straight face.
