She'd tried her hardest to refrain from calling; not only was Madeleine the type thar refused to sound needy, she was far too independent to ever depend on someone. Yet, as she'd stood on the side of downtown Kismet Harbor, taking a detour to get back home, she'd realized really quickly why she'd been grateful to meet someone like Gale Peterson. She'd gotten her van fixed a few weeks ago now, yet in a turn of events it had landed itself back in the shop for some maintenance work that had gotten pushed back with the after math of the earthquake that had struck the town. Not to mention the weather had been far too splendid for her to drive anything else and she'd been putting the miles on her bike, something that had been worth it until recently when she'd found herself stranded on the side of the road after it had overheated for the third time that day.
An exhale from her lips as she listened to the ring back tone of the phone call, waiting eagerly to hear the other's voice on the other end. It had been hard - dispatch had been exceptionally stubborn and had nearly sent the call for a stranded vehicle to one of their other officers - but, it had been Madeleine's bribery and persistence that had landed her being forward to the sheriff's personal phone. Now she just waited. As a click and the sound of the other's voice sounded she exhaled again, chuckling. "Riff, it's Mad- Lanie." she replied, using the nickname he'd given her a few weeks ago. She guess it stuck now. "You able to rescue a damsel in distress? Turns out you may have been right about this bike. Piece of shit let me down once again."
