The PAPER mill is rejoined by her smokestack, for the moment. I like this shot in the studio. The Full Catastrophe sits behind on the right, waiting her day in the sun.

Below the Mill is a piece I’m working on for a show in February at William Baczek Fine Arts, in Northampton, MA. I don’t know the dates yet, stay tuned. I’m calling this piece Barack and the T-rumpotaur, or the T-rumposaurus, something like that.

From the works that I saw at the Marshall building I found the more interest in works by Russian artist Ilya Zomb. The reason this artist's paintings caught my attention the most is because of how his works play on realms that lie between reality and pure fantasy. The theatrical edge added onto the fantasy aspect given to these works made me want to keep staring and staring at the works. There are almost impossible stances and things balancing with highlighted subjects are the things that that captures my imagination and eye. Reminiscent of pieces made by Degas and Magritte, I find great fascination in these pieces and the longer I investigated them the more they really made me question if these could be real. The fact that I was in awe at how unreal these realistic looking pieces are really shows how into the paintings I was and in how much of a place of intrigued thought I was in. These pieces may have intrigued most viewers upon first glance due to how interesting they look but it got to me on a deeper level of that. A level that dwelled with my knowledge and understanding of physical objects around me, and even had me playing around with what I already knew (the balancing of things and the science behind it). I have a love for playful art and this really caught my attention more than others.
