Warnings : Lyle being Lyle. Jack confesses something.
Part 30 in Deadly Secrets.
Laura had joined you in the bar not long after your talk with Lyle. She was still visibly upset, but holding it together. “Clint’s out with your brother.” She told you quietly. “He came by looking for you just after you left. Most everyone is looking close by, but.. They said they’d go check down by the creek, the one that runs to the next town?”
“Planning to follow it and see if anyone over there saw her?”
She nodded, looking down. “Yeah.” She breathed out. “And it’s the best place to- to dump-”
“Hey.” You hooked her chin and made her look up at you. “You need to keep up hope, Laura. Her dad stopped in, he’s right over there.” You pointed to a back booth. “If he sees you’ve lost hope, it’s gonna crush him.” You gave her a soft smile, knowing she’d be more likely to hold it together for someone else.
“Yeah.” She sniffled and wiped off her cheeks with a nod. “You’re right. I-I need to stay hopeful, for them.”
“I’ll make you tea.” You gave her a smile. “Do you want store bought, or am I dipping into the box you keep leaving here that is driving Jack nuts.”
She gave you a tiny soft smile. “Box, please. One for Mr Jeffords too.”
“Oh sweetie, he’s been on whiskey since he walked in.”
“He’ll have tea with me.” You gave her a nod, and kissed her cheek before heading behind the bar to the back room.
“You find her?” Laura looked up to the blond man who had made his way over, his voice barely above a whisper so their conversation wouldn’t be overheard. “Sorry, I’m Lyle. Your-”
“My brother’s demon.” She practically snarled the last word, her tone as low as his.
He nodded. “I deserve that.” He cleared his throat. “I told your father to rush home and tell you before you heard it elsewhere, and that if you scried, you’d probably find her. Did you?”
“I did.”
“She still alive?”
Laura nodded. “She was when I saw her. Clint and Garth are heading that way.”
Lyle gave her a small nod. “If there’s anything you need-”
“Do you have my brother’s soul?”
“No.”
“What do you want with her?” Her head tilted towards the back.
He shrugged. “Call it a school boys crush. But I’ve been informed he’s taken by your brother, so I have a date with a lovely waitress I met this morning.” He gave her a smile. “Why? You interested?”
“Not in the least.” She rolled her eyes and looked to you coming out with the teas.
Lyle chuckled softly. “Hey, I’m not so bad.” He pouted.
“Lyle, please tell me you’re not hitting on her.” You shot him a look.
“Was just checking on how she’s doing.” His hands went up in defense and you cocked an eyebrow. “Okay, so I sorta let a little flirt slip. You bruised my confidence with your rejection, sweetheart. This one just shattered what was left.” He teased.
“Good.” You put the tea cups down in front of Laura and gave her a smile as she picked them up and headed to the back booth and her missing friends father. “Lyle-”
“Relax, you’re the only girl for me.” He winked.
“Lyle..” You warned and he chuckled.
“I’m joking.” He smiled. “Everyone is so grim, so sure this girl is dead. She hasn’t been missing that long yet. I’m trying to be the awkwardly timed comedic relief.” He held out his arms. “It’s worked a bit. I had you smiling before.” He reached over and booped you on the nose. “And I had those guys roaring with laughter a few minutes ago. They’re about to head back out, they needed it.”
You sighed and nodded. “Just don’t try and look for a hot date right now, please?”
“Oh haven’t you heard, sweetheart? I already have one.”
“Who?” You furrowed your brow.
“Uh..” He pulled out a slip of paper and you leaned over to see the name and number written on it and started to laugh. “What? No good?”
“So good everyone in town has had her.. Twice.” You laughed and started away.
“Wait, everyone?” He watched you go before it really hit him what you implied. “Everyone!?” He started to follow you. “Like you everyone?” You turned and gave him a wink. “Oh, fuck me.” He groaned. “Hey, you can’t just leave me hanging like that! I need details!” He called out as you went to the back room.
You were laughing when you got to the back, and Jack looked up. “What’s so funny?”
“Messing with Lyle.” You grinned with a chuckle.
“He’s still here?”
You didn’t miss the look on his face when he turned away. “Jack.”
“I didn’t say anything.” He shook his head. “I’m keeping my mouth shut, as requested.”
“This really isn’t the time to start this..”
“I’m not starting anything.” He leaned his ass on the counter as he took a bite of pizza. He had come to the back to get a few minutes of peace to eat. Once he swallowed, he spoke again. “I don’t care.”
“Bullshit.”
“Look, if you wanna fuck your brother’s friends, and string Clint along while you flirt with Daddy Warbucks out there-”
The cross between a chuckle and a scoff that you let out cut him off. “You’re an asshole, Jack.”
He put the slice of pizza back down. “Look, I’m sorry.” You shook your head and started back out, but his hand grabbing your wrist stopped you, and he spun you back to look at him. “I’m sorry.” He sighed. “I didn’t mean that.”
“Yeah, you did.”
He could see how much those words hurt you. “I just-” his hand slid down from your wrist to take your hand in his. “I love you.” He shook his head. “I can’t stop it, I can’t help how pissed off I get every time I see you with someone else.” He laced his fingers in with yours.
“I asked you, Jack. I asked you so many times. I asked you if we could make it work, I asked you if you’d take me back. You said no.”
“I know.” He breathed out. “I regret it. I’m still not sure we could have worked any better than we had, but… I regret not trying.”
“It’s too late, Jack.”
Jack licked his lips. “Are you two-”
“Officially, no. Not yet. But I want to. I do love him, I always did. Just like I’ll always love you.” You brushed a hand over his cheek and he leaned into it. “But you said no, Jack. I tried, I tried for so long to make it work with you.”
“I know.” He leaned in and brushed his lips against yours. “I’m sorry.”
“THEY FOUND HER!” Your head snapped around, and you let go of Jack’s hand and ran out of the back room, Jack following. “THEY FOUND HER! SOMEONE FOUND HER!”

They found out where this werewolf was hunting for his victims. Sam and Dean had canvassed the area before you and Garth made it to the motel. You knocked on the door and Sam called out that it was open. Garth led you into the room, and you took a seat on the empty bed.
“So get this - the only victims of these animal attacks are women in their upper 20s. Hearts missing, the usual werewolf M.O. Everyone else was safe.”
“There was one other thing.” You looked over at Dean who was cleaning his gun and loading his gun with silver bullets. “They said this guy who's responsible keeps mentioning he's looking for ‘'her”, his daughter.” You glanced up at Garth who was standing over by Dean with his arms crossed.
There was a map spread out across the table, as Dean pointed out where the last attack had taken place. The three of them discussed what to do as you focused on a set spot on the wall. You must have dozed off because the time you opened your eyes again, you were in the backseat of the Impala with Garth.
Molding to Garth’s side, you had your hand in his and your head on his shoulder. Garth kissed the crown of your head and you smiled.
“Keep it PG back there okay?”
Your eyes met Dean's in the rear view mirror. “Okay dad.” Rolling your eyes, you heard Sam chuckle and Garth just smiled at you. You could tell by the number of houses dwindling that you were getting closer to your location. Dean pulled down a gravel road as he pulled up to an abandoned farm. The headlights illuminated the abandoned barn.
There was an abandoned farmhouse to the right that the boys wanted to check out. Garth wanted you to stay behind, so with a lot of grumbling you stayed near the Impala. He handed you a gun, telling you to only use it if you needed to. You tucked it into the back of your pants, and felt Garth pull you in. “Be safe okay.” He kissed your forehead and the three of them split up - Garth heading towards the trees, Sam taking the farmhouse and Dean going towards the abandoned barn.
You were sitting on Baby's trunk as you waited for one of the three to come back. You drew your knees up and sighed until you heard a branch snap and someone approached from the tree line.
“Well lookie here. I never thought I would see you again.” Keeping your right hand on the gun behind your back, you slowly moved off the car. You recognized that voice and turned to face the man you never wanted to see again.
“The bitch grew up and filled out nicely. It's a shame really.” You shuddered as he approached. “Mommy dearest was so proud of you for getting away. I showed her.”
Cocking the gun, and turning the safety off you aimed at the man that was once your father. “What did you do to my mother?”
“I really thought you could figure that out yourself. I killed her obviously.” He brought his hand up to your face and embraced it. “She fought like hell but the moment she died? I was so hard when she died that when she took her final breath, I almost came.”
“You son of a bitch!” You felt the sting of his hand as it came across your face. Tears rolled down your face and you dropped the gun. Bending over you heard him groan, you tried inching away but he took a handful of your hair, pulling your body back towards him.
“I'm still your father you little cunt, and I deserve respect.” You felt the gun press into your back as your father looked around. “I guess these hunters don't know who they're looking for now do they?”
You started to reply as the words fell dead on your lips. You heard Sam, Dean and Garth calling out for you, but after that you heard nothing. It all happened in a matter of seconds, your father was nervous about being caught, pulled the trigger shooting you in your lower abdomen. Your eyes widened as you felt the stickiness of the blood pool right into your hands. Your vision was fading in and out as you struggled to keep your eyes open. You felt your father lean down, you could feel his hot breath on your neck and felt teeth puncture your neck. “See if your precious hunters want anything to do with you now.”
Hearing you cry out, Garth found you immediately. He gathered you into his arms, begging for you to hold on. Sam and Dean were by your side and looked between you, Garth and this mysterious werewolf.
“Why in the hell did you do this to her!” Garth yelled, his eyes turning yellow as he glared at the older gentleman. He looked between the two of you, spotting some similarities.
“She was never going to amount to anything. I mean honestly. the little bitch had it coming.”
You coughed as Garth looked down at you. “What does he mean by that?”
“Oh this is rich. They have no idea who I am do they?”
“Shut the hell up.” You heard Dean say with his gun still pointed at the older man. He laughed deeply and looked down at Garth. “Wait...did he bite her?” Garth swore as he ran his hands gently over your neck.
“Just stop monologuing, jesus dad.” You softly said, as Garth brushed back some of your hair that was matted on your forehead with sweat.
“This jackhole is your father?” Dean lowered his gun for a split second, noting the pained looked on your face. “What do we do Sammy?”
“He’s been killing innocent people.” You heard Garth say.
“He killed my mother, and he tried killing me.” The three of them were enraged at what you admitted. You heard Dean's gun go off and the older man fell to the ground.
Lowering his gun, the two of them ran over to where Garth was holding you in his arms. “Cas! Please we need your help.”
You heard a flutter of wings and Cas appeared. Bending over you could see him assessing the situation. “I'm sorry to say this but I cannot help with this.” He placed his hand on your abdomen, healing the wound but his blue eyes were surveying your neck. He watched as the wound healed up on its own.
“Thank you Cas.” You said opening your eyes once again. Garth refused to let you go. “What does this mean for me?” Sam and Dean looked at each other, unsure of how to answer.
“You're just like me now, baby.” You blushed and slowly looked up at Garth. Biting on your lower lip, he stood you up carefully and pulled you in for a hug. You nuzzled into his chest as Sam and Dean coughed.
“This is great and all but we don't need to see the two of you going at it.” The five of you piled back into the Impala, and ‘Werewolves of London’ was playing when Dean turned the volume up. His eyes met yours in the rear view mirror and you could tell he was grinning by the way his face crinkled up.
“Too soon?” He asked and you smacked him on his shoulder. He heard you mutter and with a quiet chuckle Dean changed the station. Music played as you made your way back into town and you felt Garth rubbing small circles into the small of your back. Things would be different now but Garth, he was still treating you like he always had. You kissed his cheek and he lit up.
The motel was coming up and as Dean parked, Cas was still quiet. Garth was walking behind you, when you heard Cas speak again.
“Congratulations by the way.” You and Garth both looked at each other, then at Sam and Dean when you got back to the motel room.
“What do you mean by congratulations?”
“Is that not what you say when you find out someone is pregnant?”
“I’m pregnant?” Y/N moved a hand down to her stomach and stared right into Cas’s eyes. “How...?”
Dean snorted and shook his head. “Well when a tall lanky werewolf and his mate love each other a lot...” You swatted his arm and he laughed. “I never thought my niece would be Winnie Werewolf.”
“Wait, did you just make a Ghoul School reference?” You turned around to look at Garth who still hadn’t said anything. You could tell he was still stunned and dropped down to the bed with his head in his hand.
“How could we do something like this?” You frowned as you pulled Garth’s hands into yours. This wasn’t exactly the reaction you thought he would have. “Can werewolves even have children?” Everyone in the room was dead silent but Garth looked up at you. “I never thought kids were an option for me since I turned. Hell I never thought anyone would want to have kids with me period.”
“Baby please.” You brought one hand to cup his cheek and the other you placed on your stomach. “I know this is scary - I won’t lie. I’m scared out of my mind but things will work out because. This child will have the best father I could’ve ever asked for. They won’t have to be scared or even run away because we won’t let that happen. Not to our child.”
“They’ll also have uncles looking out for them that won’t let anything happen to them.” Garth looked over at Sam and Dean with tears in his eyes.
“Always knew you guys were softies.” He sniffed and drew you into his arms. “We can do this. I’m sorry I doubted myself for a minute there.” You kissed his forehead and smiled at the boys. Things were going to change and you hoped it would be for the better.
You woke up cuddled up to Clint’s back, softly groaning as you shifted and rolled to face the other way. “What is that noise?”
“Sounds like Laura.” Clint grumbled and stretched. You let out a soft moan when he rolled and wrapped himself around you. “Get back to sleep. I’m not letting you out of this bed until I have to.”
You chuckled softly, letting yourself drift off again, until Laura’s frantic voice hit you. Your eyes snapped open and you threw off the blanket, his arm going with it. “Clint, something is wrong. What if it’s your dad?”
You quickly jumped out of the bed and ran down the stairs, Clint not far behind you. You found Laura and her father in the kitchen, Laura pacing and crying as her father tried to calm her. “Laura?” Clint stepped around you and grabbed a hold of his twin.
“She’s… She’s missing.”
“Who? Laura, tell me who.”
“Bradley.” She breathed out the name, then her hand went up to her mouth, as if afraid saying it had damn the girl to a horrible fate. “Dad said he heard this morning Bradley Jeffords is missing.”
“Oh sweetie.” You moved forward and pulled her in for a hug, letting her wrap her arms around you and cry. “We’ll find her. Okay? Anything I can do, I’ll do it and we’ll find her.”
Laura nodded in your arms, and Clint looked to his father. “FBI mentioned it?” He asked.
Clint’s father nodded. “Parents reported her missing just this morning. They heard Laura and her were close, so I was asked if I had seen the girl.”
“Hey.” Laura looked up at you. “We’ll find her.” She gave you a small nod. “We’ll go see her parents, see how we can help. And I’ll set up a search party at the bar, get everyone in town out looking. I promise.”
She nodded again. “I uhm.. I - I had a picture of her, we took it just last week at the bar. I- I don’t know if her parents already have posters, or-”
“I’ll go right now and find out, okay?” She gave you a nod. “Get me the picture. If they don’t I'll make posters right away.”
“Thanks. I just- I need-”
“Relax. I’ll call you when I’m done there. I’ll keep you updated.”
After you kissed Clint goodbye and ran out, he returned to his sister and father. “What is it, Dad? What are they hunting?”
“Rugaru.”
“Shit.” Clint dropped into a seat at the table. His hand rubbed over his face as he thought. “Laura, you need to scry for her.”
“I can’t, I-”
“You’re the strongest connection to her. If she’s still alive, you need to find her.”
She sat silent for a minute. “I’ll need to get ready.” She slowly got up and left the kitchen.
Clint looked up, but his father’s hand came down on his shoulder. “Give her time. She’s not as strong as you. She’ll need to meditate and prepare. The water is stored in the basement, when she is ready.”
Clint gave his father a soft smile. “Old habits, huh dad?”
“Every full moon.” His father slowly walked away.
After talking to her mother, who had cried in your arms, you got missing persons flyers made. Her father was at the station, lighting a fire under the sheriffs ass, so you called Jack, telling him to meet you at the bar.
The second you told him, he opened up early and tasked Carl with helping you get people to help look. Jack offered up free beer and pizza for anyone who joined in the search. You were handing out flyers on main street when you saw Lyle coming out of one of the nicer apartment buildings in town. “Hey!”
He turned and smiled. “Hey, sweetheart.”
“Home just in time.” You handed him a flyer.
He looked down at it. “Wow, you work fast.” You gave him a confused look. “I was in the diner this morning, when I heard.” He gave you a sad smile. “Knew her?”
“I work in the bar, Lyle, I know everyone.” You teased. “Have time to help? Jack’s offering up beer and pizza.”
He chuckled and gave a nod. “Yeah, I can help. Just tell me where to go.” He smiled. “And tell Jack I can help cover that, if he needs it. I know he’s struggling to keep that place afloat.”
“I’ll tell him.”
“I got to go somewhere first, real quick. Everyone’s meeting at the bar, right?” You nodded. “I’ll see you soon.” He held out a hand, and you handed him some flyers. He gave you a wink, and started off down the street, handing them out to people he went past.
You smiled softly and pulled out your phone. “Hey, Jackie. Ran into Daddy Warbucks. He said he’ll help cover the beer and pizza. I know you’d rather not, but consider it, okay? Keep your savings for buying the bar.”
About an hour and a half later, Laura was ready to try. Clint had gotten an update from you that the town was out looking. Not long after that, Clint’s father had come in from the living room and told them someone had offered up a ten thousand dollar reward to any tip that lead to her finding. ‘Anonymous reward.’ They both knew it was Lyle.
Clint shook his head with a soft chuckle. Lyle had the police following the flood of tips coming in, which gave them and the Winchesters the freedom to move around and find her.
Laura looked down in her black bowl of water, that her father had collected during a full moon from the closest lake. She had meditated, gotten herself ready for this. Picking up a small wand made of a branch from a laurel tree, she dipped the end covered in dry tree sap into the water, then ran it around the rim of the bowl. The soft musical sound filled the room as the water began to ripple towards the center.
When she saw nothing after a few minutes, Clint placed his hand on her shoulder and focused, lending her his energy and power. He knew this would be hard for her, she was distraught, but that emotion, that connection was needed to find her friend, and fast.
He closed his eyes and focused on his twin, and the connection he shared with her since before birth. “I see her.” Laura whispered softly. “Call them. I found her.”
It was lunchtime when you saw Lyle again. You were in the bar, serving up beer and pizza to people who were taking a break.
“It was you, wasn’t it?” You asked, putting a plate of pizza and an old fashioned in front of him.
“What was?”
“The reward.” You slipped into the seat across from him. “No one else in town has that kinda money.”
“Thought maybe it would help.” He gave you a soft smile and picked up the slice of pizza. You watched him as he took a bite. “What?” He asked around the mouth full, and you shook your head and looked away. “I know you’ve been asking about me.” he swallowed, and you looked back at him. “You could just ask me, you know.”
“Why is everyone warning me to stay away from you?”
“Rough past.”
“But why?”
He sighed, and placed the pizza back down. Licking his bottom lip, he thought about what to tell you. “Do you know why I’m helping Clint?”
“He said you were trying for a fresh start.”
Lyle nodded. “I am. And for you.”
“Me?” You furrowed your brows.
“Yeah.” He sighed again. “Clint is doing this for you. Right?” You nodded with a slight shrug. It’s what Clint kept telling you, anyways. “I wanted to know why.” He told you honestly. “I saw you, well before you met me.” He chuckled softly. “I saw you with your dad, specifically.” You sat back in your seat, you demeanor changing completely, a little on guard. “My dad….” Lyle paused, biting his lip. “My dad was like that, once. But he got worse. A lot worse. I ran away at 14 because I couldn’t take the beatings anymore.” His eyes met yours and he saw sadness there. “I did some less than stellar shit to survive, bad decisions that lead to worse decisions. I became someone people didn’t recognize anymore. Now, I’m trying to help people. Trying to make up for a shit past, and trying to live some kind of a normal life where people don’t know either of those versions of me. If you want to ask what I do-”
“No.” He cocked an eyebrow. “I don’t care what you do. Or what you did. As long as you don’t hurt Clint, it doesn’t matter.”
He chuckled softly and nodded. “Even if I was a mob boss?” He teased with a smile, and you blushed a bit before nodding. “I knew I liked you.”
“So, you do all this for me, huh?” You nudged his foot with yours.
“I did offer you the world on a silver platter.” He reminded you, picking up his slice of pizza again. “Just say the word and it’s all yours.”
You blushed and looked down. “I’ve already got Clint trying to give it to me. He’s been doing it since I was little. I think he’d be a bit offended if I just walked away from his efforts now.” you joked.
“Yeah, probably.” He frowned for a moment. “Can’t blame a guy for trying.”
“Shitty past or not, Lyle, you are going to make someone very happy one day.” you reached over, wiping a bit of sauce off the corner of his mouth.
“I hope so.” his eyes locked on yours before taking another bite. “Just putting it out there, I don’t mind sharing.” He winked.
“You’re a dog!” You laughed and he grinned.
