olive greets her with a ‘susan.’ and a sly smile, directed temporarily at the back of her head. it sounds as wrong now as it ever did, which is precisely why she’s taken this entrance instead of the other: she likes to be recognized before she’s seen.
‘ tell me you can fit me in, ’ she says, nodding at the stage now she’s got her attention. ‘ been so long since i saw the east coast. has it missed me? ’ have you?

Gaslite Motel, 2025 Las Vegas Blvd S – Postcard c. 1960
Gaslite opened in the 50s, merged with the Sulinda motel next door in the 70s; demolished in the 90s. “53 large, elegantly furnished units with separate dressing rooms and running ice water. The Signal station and Lincoln Mercury dealership on the left are the site of the Stratosphere. Sulinda and Gaslite motels on the right were demolished in ‘96 and turned into parking.
