•by Heavens do you annoy him! You and Father Brown, thick as thieves the pair of you. And suspiciously always at every crime scene too…

•the dear Inspector made the mistake of arresting you once before, you were out of custody in a jiffy when it became apparent that you couldn’t have committed the crime. The Inspector was annoyed by this, he’d quite enjoyed the horror etched into everyone’s expressions as he drove away with you cuffed in the back of the police car.

•safe to say you don’t have a good working relationship. Much to your annoyance.

•the little issue of your being subjected to a false arrest being set aside, you did actually like Inspector Mallory. His competence as a police officer was questionable, but as a man he always made you laugh. He liked a drink, had a quick wit, wasn’t afraid to swear a little which frankly is thrilling!

•and of course there’s his arms…his strong, commanding forearms, you can never concentrate when they’re on display because his sleeves are rolled up. But the least said about that, the better!

•the Inspector never really took the time to get to know you- not of your little secret that only three people knew about. (Those people being you, Father Brown and Bunty.) which is why it was such a massive shock for him when he entered a brand new, discrete Gentleman’s Club and found you dancing provocatively and wearing…well, very little, and looking fabulous!

•he couldn’t keep his eyes off you! You were simply mesmerising!

•and naturally he found himself becoming curious about you. He wondered how he didn’t know this little secret of your life! So he made a note to get to know you better.

•you couldn’t help but smirk as you met his gaze, oh yes, he was definitely going to pay you more attention at the next crime scene he happens to meet you at.
