Draw a pony facing the unknown/Draw a pony in the Twilight Zone.

Hey hey it’s the ATG Day 5 prompt that I missed. This’un has a backstory, that can be boiled down to:

~ 20 years before canon. OCs live on an island, OCs are part of that island nation’s secret service, and their branch deals with Weird and Dangerous Magical Stuff. The current Weird Stuff is a necromancer pirate hell-bent on finding a mysterious artefact, and the pirate thinks that the artefact will show her the way to becoming a goddess. This is Bad News #1. Bad News #2 is that the artefact is rumoured to be hidden somewhere in the weird magical jungle on the island that has a reputation like the Everfree Forest - it manages itself and no one who enters it ever comes out. OCs have to find the artefact before the pirate does.

But the perils of the jungle are unknown.

That being said, I guess the one facing the unknown is the watcher in the bushes...

can you tell i got lazy on the foliage after the bits at the front?

Are Roc Feather and Glinting Rock related?

Yep!! Feather is the elder of Glinting's two daughters (the other being Cloud Break). ^^

They're pretty close and pretty similar, even without counting how much they look alike.

In a Doylist sense, Feather is 'older' bc I came up with her first after a dream I had about a pegasus with abnormally large wings,, I haven't had many dreams incorporate ponies but that one in particular essentially kickstarted my whole OC pony headworld. I needed a reason for Feather's wings to be so large, and so Glinting was conceptualised, and now she's one of my favourite OCs, haha!

Eyyy, finished up that sketch!

Turned out pretty good, no? I realised halfway through lining it that I had... drawn Glinting’s forearms with hooves which is Obviously Wrong but it’s okay because I fixed it. Yeah.
