Sports and Celiac Disease
Sports have always been a big part of my life. I started playing soccer at the age of 4 and am almost 13 today. But, the hardest part about sports for me is not the struggle, it is the food.
When I was younger, the team would give us snacks and other stuff during halftime or after the game. During that span, I could rarely eat any of the foods, which I thought was unfair. Especially homemade foods like brownies, cake, cookies, chips, drinks, etc., etc. I couldn’t eat. As I got older over time, the team usually brought fruits or vegetables instead of the gluteny products.
Around the end of the year when the team threw parties, I usually brought in a replica of the food choices I could not eat there. But before I ate at any time, I washed my hands well and later began to eat.
As I have said a countless number of times, I am used to being left out for celiac reasons. But if I never listened, Would my stomach feel bad or painful? That is the hardest part about getting used to Celiac Disease, but eventually, you would get used to it.
