Richard Donner, 'Goonies' and 'Superman' director, dies at 91
Prolific Hollywood director and producer Richard Donner, best known for helming some of the most iconic movies of the 1970s and ’80s including The Goonies, the original Superman film and buddy cop series Lethal Weapon has died. He was 91.
Donner passed away Monday, according to his wife, producer Lauren Schuler Donner, and his business manager. No cause of death has been revealed.
Donner acted as director as well as producer for The Goonies in 1985, sharing the latter duties with Harvey Bernhard. The adventure comedy film, which tells the story of a group of children hunting for a hidden treasure, has become a cult classic with a strong fan following.
